My flam is out………am back home from Beijing. It was a once in life time experience to play in Paralympics Games in Beijing for table tennis. When we play, when all play, the hall was full, 10,000 people shouting and applauding for you and the others. It was amazing to play in such hall.
The results were not enough to make a medal. For this is also an explanation, our class 9 ( small leg problems ) was combined with class 10 ( small arm problems on the non playing arm), so it was not so fair for class 9 players. Everybody was agreed that this was no fair for our sport, but it had to be played in this system.
In Athens in class 9 we win the Gold medal in team, ¼ in single…..but now in this new system for me not so many change to win a medal.
In single i loose in group my 2 matches, although close matches, sets like 19-17, 13-11 and some 11-9, so out in group in single. In team we got heavy draw, 1/8 against Nigeria, they were Champion in Sydney 2000, but we win 3-1, i even win my match 3-0 against the number 1 of Nigeria and he is class 10 player, also he was in single at the last 10 players left, 11-9, 11-9, 3rd set even 10-4 down and still win 12-10. In ¼ Spain, number 2 seeded and they have Jose Ruiz, the number 1 of the world ranking ( in single he loose ¼) , I had to play him, I play good match but loose 3-0, one set even 12-10, he is just to good for me.
All together I am very satisfied from this Paralympics although I have no medal. It was very beautiful, the Chinese make it, as many other people say, the best Paralympics ever till now. All was perfect arranged, the village was very good and beautiful decorated, good accommodations, good transport, good food, so friendly people everywhere and every time.

I am happy and honoured that I could play for my country on this Paralympics in China, also because China is table tennis Mecca and for me as a table tennis players it was PERFECT.
Also many thanks to my wife, parents and my dog, who supported me all the way. Also thanks to all the other people who write me and support me.

Yeah Yeah! Tonnie win first match in Beijing game no more 0 point. he's say in the 3rd set with number 1 of Nigeria he was 4 point and Nigeria have 10 points then he can come back and win in the last set with 6 times match point for Nigeria then end with 12-10 ,victory for Netherland.
Tournament in Nantes, France. After few weeks no training, I had to play the tournament, so I had not really good rhythm. In Open class was in 3r round out for me. I come in single through group and than in the ¼ final I loose with 3-0 against a France man. In team I got better in the playing again and we win the gold medal with the team, we beat Spain 1 and 2, combination Belgium with Taipei and France.
From Slovakia
Again we get a new car from PON and NOC/NSF . PON is main dealer of the Netherlands for Volkswagen ( VW ). We get the car for the good performance in my sport. We did get a brand new VW Golf VI diesel. We make a lot of KM's every year so with diesel is better. The car is perfect, we will enjoy it a lot.......thanks for this support.
Jordan Tournament
3rd Open Al Watani championships, Amman, Jordan
I did play my 1st international tournament for the National team this year, it was from 1st April till 7th April in Amman, Jordan. We arrive in the very early morning of the 2nd april, about 05.00 we were in the hotel, we sleep 1st than we train a little, in the evening there was the draw for the open class and the next day the tournament start. In Open class, I had 5 wins against, Yemen, Greece, Jordan, Egypt, another Egypt and than I was in the final, I play there against once more an player from Egypt, his name is Abdel Rahman Abdelwahab, he is a defense player with long pimples without sponge, also he have a very good serve, give many backspin and strange curved balls with his pimps, it was a good match where he Egyptian player had the better end. So in open class 2nd place and the 1st medal, a silver color….this color become later interesting…..Than single class, a group of 4, I win all the matches, against Saudi Arabia, again Egypt and Iraq. Was 1st in group through this and did get a bye, so I go directly to the ½ finals. I had to wait who was become my opponent. Through draw my own team mate, Ronald Vijverberg, become in my part of the field, he win his ¼ final, so he will be my opponent. I win 2 sets close, so leading 2-0, than in 3rd set Ronald with his big backhand hits become better in the match, but I had the luck on my side and can decide this game also, so I win 3-0. In the final I have to play against the Russian Yuri , it was a good match with many good rally’s, but Yuri get the better of the match and win, so another 2nd place and another silver medal. Than the team event, we had a group of 4, we win all match, against Saudi Arabia, Yemen and combination Iraq/Jordan. We were through this in the ½ finals, we had to play the strong team combination Czech/ Russia, we play a very good match and win with 3-0. In the final we meet Egypt, but for us it was the end of the day, so many matches through all these days and we loose unfortunately, so again a 2nd place and another silver medal….i am satisfied with the points for the ranking, the play and the 3 silver medals. Now I have to go in 2 weeks to Piestany, Slowakia for my next international tournament.
14 November 2008, we ( my wife and me ) drive at 06.00 in the morning for 3 hours to Tilburg where the championships are. The tournement start with the doubles at 09.30.
In the A-classs where i have to play were 2 groups of 4 teams, 2 teams of each group go to next round and there will be than 2 semi finals than, winnars in the final and the looser for the bronze. In the group we become 2nd place and we go to the 1/2 finale. There we have to play against last years champions, we win 3-0 in a good match, so we are in the final, we loose there 3-0, but all close, 12-10, 11-9 and 13-11, but the others were better combination as us, i did play with Tino Raghunuath.
The singles, 2 big groups, my group is with 7 players and 2 players again go to next round, so there will be again semi finals than and than final and for bronze. I become 2nd in group, i loose Vincent Blom with 3-1( he play 1st division able body) but i did beat my double partner Tino, who was the winnar and champion of last year, i win 3-0 ( he also play 1st division ). In 1/2 finale i had to play Marco Gerritse, 6 times champion and favorite again for this years title. It was a very high level match in which i was the winnar with 3-1. In the final than again against Vincent, 1st set for me, leading in 2nd till 7-5, than a marvelous rally, vincent win this point and the hole mathc turn to his side, i could not keep up to his play and he was the better one on that day, so he was the new champ and not me.....but i am very satisfied, i win 2 times silver medal as a disable player in the middle of all these strong and good players, 4 players of the 1st division

MY DEAR FANS
I want to thank all people who support me and who write already comments at our site. It is great you support me and that you visit, like our site.
I am preparing now already from the start of april for the Paralympics.
The 1st 6 weeks I did train in Assen with Dong Li, she is a Chinese player who life already many years in the Netherlands, she play many years premiership in the Netherlands, she play now in Germany in the 1st Bundesliga, I train with her 5 days a week.
After this I did play 2 international tournements in Slovenia and Poland. In Slovenia I win Gold medal in team and Silver medal in single, in Poland I win silver medal in team.
Than I go to Thailand for my official marriage and also train there in a table tennis school in Yak Wang Hin close to Don Muang, the owner did play also for National table tennis team of Thailand before. I stay in Thailand for 1 month.
End of June back home. Go train, 5 days a week in Papendal, the Olympic center for all sport in the Netherlands.
1st 2 weeks we had training from one of the top trainers in the world for table tennis, trainer Li Jia Wei from Beijing. His daughter play for Singapore and his number 6 of the world. Wang Hao is also a pupil of him. He is famous for his multi ball training. He did train us for 2 weeks.
We train 2 to 3 times a day in Papendal, in the morning from 09.30-12.00, in the afternoon 15.30-18.00 and also several times in the evening from 20.00-22.00, than we do match practice or service practice. We did train there for 8 weeks.
We make a break at Papendal and we go than to Slovenia for a trainings camp of 2 weeks here. We train there for 10 days 2 to 3 times a day. We also had 2 travel days, we go there by mini bus.
At this Saturday 23 august, we leave to Seoul, Korea for to have acclimation and practice more, also to get used to the time difference. We go than at 1 September directly to Beijing. Train there few days little times and take rest time. 6 September will be the openings ceremony and7 September starts the single matches, at 13 start the team matches.
How are the changes for a medal…………………..in single it will be very hard, so many good players, depends on the draw, every day have to be better that the best…..we will see in single. In team we are strong, Gerben Last, my team mate and me will have good change to come to semi final and try to win a medal than……there can be only that by draw will get China in quarter final and than it will be very hard to win, China is the number one seeded and very strong and also the best team to win the Gold……EVERY COLOR OF MEDAL WILL BE PERFECT!!!!!
Little bit from Korea's Training camp 23th - 31th August. Train everyday 4 hours and tomorrow 1 September Tonnie and team go to Beijing with china airline .leave 13.05 Korea time and arrive 14.05 china time. Good luck and Success everybody.

On 12-17 March 2008 Tonnie make 2 Bronze medals in Liverpool 08 International Disabled Open Table Tennis Championship ,He said"Medal is medal ,i'm very happy with the price.You can not be always number one"
