Grammar and Vocabulary
สวัสดีครับ
ไม่ได้เขียนบล็อกภาษาอังกฤษมาซะนาน เมืื่อวันก่อนผมได้ปริ้นหนังสือมาเล่มหนึ่งชื่อหนังสือ Grammar and Vocabulary for Cambridge advanced and proficiency เป็นหนังสือเกี่ยวกับ grammar และ vocabulary ซึ่งมีเนื้อหาที่น่าสนใจ มากๆ ก็เลยคิดว่าจะขอนำส่วนหนึ่งของหนังสือ (ซึ่งคิดว่าน่าจะเป็นเนื้อหา) มาเขียนใส่ลงในนี้นะครับ ถ้าอยากอ่านก็ลองติดตามดูได้ละกัน จะมาเขียนใสเมื่อว่างนะครับ

“As well as” กับ “As well” กัล “As … as” หมายความว่าอะไร

ช่วยอธิบายว่า "as well as?" กับ "as well " หมายความว่าอะไร และ “As … as” ด้วย

จำตรงนี้เอาไว้ครับคือ
as well as = และ, รวมถึง
as well = ด้วย
ใช้ as well as แทน and เมื่อพูดถึงสมาชิกของหนึ่งกลุ่มเช่น
Somchai as well as Somcheng went to the party. (สมชายและส้มเช้งไปงานเลี้ยง)
You need to buy some chillis, some bananas as well as some ice-cream. (คุณจะต้องซื้อ พริก กล้วย และ ไอศครีมด้วย)
I love Somcheng as well as Somsri. (ผมรักส้มเช้งและสมศรีด้วย)
ส่วน as well น่าจะแปลว่า ด้วย (also, too) เช่น
I love Somcheng, but I love Somsri as well. (ผมรักส้มเช้งแต่ก็รักสมศรีด้วย)
Would you like a massage as well? (จะให้หนูนวดพี่ด้วยไหม)

แต่ “as … as” เป็นโครงสร้างพิเศษที่เราใช้ในการเปรียบเทียบ ผมขอยกตัวอย่าง สามประโยค อ่านแล้วน่าจะเข้าใจครับ
Somcheng is as fat as a pig. (ส้มเช้งอ้วนเหมือนหมู)
Somsri is as sly as a fox. (สมศรีเจ้าเล่ห์เหมือนสุนัขจริ้งจอก … เป็นสำนวนภาษาอังกฤษครับ)
I’m as happy as a lark. (ผมมีความสุขเหลือล้น … “happy as a lark” เป็นสำนวน แปลตรงตัวคือ มีความสุขเหมือนนกตัวเล็กชนิดหนึ่ง)
อังกฤษ มีสำนวนเปรียบเทียบอย่างนี้มากมายเช่น as clean as a whistle (สะอาดหมดจด) as black as the ace of spades (ดำปิ๊ด) as timid as a mouse (ขี้ขลาด ตาขาว)

สวัสดีครับ
ต้องขอโทษด้วยที่ห่างหายจากการเขียนบล็อกไปนาน เพราะว่าช่วงนี้อยู่ปีสี่เรียนหนักต้องทำโปรเจคเลยไม่ค่อยได้มาเขียนบล็อกเท่าไร
วันนี้ได้เข้าไปที่เวปพันทิปตรงห้องเรียนภาษาอังกฤษ
เจอกระทู้นึงน่าสนใจมาก
คือมีครูคนนึงมาถามว่า ประโยคใดในสี่ประโยคนี้เป็นประโยคที่ถูกที่สุด
(1) My favorite animal is dog.
(2) My favorite animal is a dog.
(3) My favorite animal is the dog.
(4) My favorite animal is dogs.
มาถึงอย่างนี้ก็รู้สึกได้ว่าข้อสี่ต้องตัดทิ้งป่ะ เพราะว่าข้างหน้าเป็นเอกพจน์ ข้างหลังเป็นพหูพจน์
ทีนี้เรามาพิจารณาว่าข้อ (1),(2) หรือ (3)
ตอนแรกดูดีๆเนี่ย คิดว่าข้อ (2) แต่ว่าข้อสองเนี่ย ถ้าจะใช้ a dog ก็ต้อง refer ว่าหมายถึง dog ตัวไหนใช่ป่าว ก็เลยไม่แน่ใจว่าข้อนี้ถูกหรือเปล่า
และก็อ่านความเห็นในเวปพันทิพรู้สึกว่าจะเถียงกันไปเถียงกันมาแบบสรุปไม่ได้ด้วยแฮะ
ก็เลยงงว่าอันไหนมันถูกกันแน่
แต่เมื่อกี้ ไปถามผุ้รู้ก็ได้คำตอบมาว่า The dog เป็นข้อที่ถูกต้อง เพราะว่า the ก็สามารถแสดงถึงความ genralization ได้ด้วย (เพิ่งรู้นะเนี่ย)
อย่างเช่น
tigers are fierce
The tiger is fierce.

On time/in time and At the end/ On the end
On time และ in time
On time
On time = punctual, not late ตรงเวลา
- The 11.45 train left on time( = it left at 11.45)
- 'I'll meet you at 7.30.' 'OK, but please be on time.' (= don't be late, be there at 7.30)
- The conference was very well organised. Everything began and finished on time.
คำตรงกันข้ามของ on time คือ late = สาย
- Be on time. Don't be late.
In time
In time(for some thing / to do some thing) = soon enough ทันเวลา
- Will you be home in time in dinner?(= soon enough for dinner)
- I've sent Jill her birthday present. I hope it arrives in time(for her birthday).
- I must hurry. I want to get home in time to see the football match on television.
สำนวนตรงข้ามของ in time คือ too late = ช้าเกินไป / สายเกินไป
- I got home too late to see the football match
สำนวน just in time = almost too late ทันเวลาพอดี/เกือบจะสาย
- We got to the station just in time to catch the train
- A child ran across the road in front of the car , but I managed to stop just in time

Preposition (1)
At/On/In (เวลา)
At
at ใช้กับเวลาต่างๆ ที่เป็นเวลาเป๊ะๆในแต่ละวัน
เช่น at 5'o clock, at 11.45, at midnight, at lunchtime, at sunset
On
on ใช้กับวัน และ วันที่ ต่างๆ เช่น
On Friday, On 12 March 2001, On Christmas day, On my birthday
In
in ใช้กับช่วงเวลาที่นาน (เดือน/ปี/ฤดู) เช่น
in October, in 2001, in the 18th century, in the past, in winter, in the 1990s, in the Middle Ages, in the future.
นอกเหนือจากการใช้ preposition ในเรื่องเกี่ยวกับเวลาแล้ว ก็ยังมีข้อสังเกตที่น่าจดจำอีกหลายอย่าง ได้แก่
1. ถ้าเป็นช่วงเวลาของวันที่เป็น เช้า กลางวัน เย็น เราก็จะใช้ In the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening อย่างเช่น
- I'll see you in the morning.
- Do you usually go out on Sunday evening?
แต่ถ้ามีวันกำหนดด้วย ให้ใช้ On อย่างเช่น On Friday morning, on Sunday afternoon, on Monday evening
- I will be at home on Friday morning.
- Do you usually go out on Saturday evening
2. In ตามด้วย time phrase บางครั้งจะให้ความหมายว่า ก่อนจะสิ้นสุดเวลาที่ระบุไว้ เช่น
- in five days หมายถึง ภายในเวลาห้าวัน
- in ten minutes หมายถึง ภายในเวลาสิบนาที
For example,
- The train will be leaving in a few minutes (รถไฟจะออกในอีกสองสามนาที)
- Jack has gone away. He will be back in a week (แจ๊กมานไปแหล่ว เขาจะกลับมาในอีกสัปดาห์)
- She will be here in a moment.
เราอาจจะใส่ apostrophe(') หลังระยะเวลาในรูปพหูพจน์ (in six months' time) หรือ apostrophe s('s) หลังระยะเวลารูปเอกพจน์ (in a week's time) เช่น
They are getting married in six months' time
หรือ เราใช้ in... เพื่อบอกว่า เราใช้เวลานานเท่าไรในการทำอะไรบางอย่าง เช่น
I learnt to drive in four weeks (= It took me four weeks to learn)
