The Gerund (The -ing form)
Gerund คือ -ing form และใน ภาษาอังกฤษจะมี -ing form อยู่ 2 แบบ คือ
Present Participle, Gerund
Present Participle
ยกตัวอย่างเช่น
He sits watching football all night every week.
Gerund
ตัวอย่างเช่น
He likes watching football all night every week.
การใช้ Gerund
ใช้ Gerund เป็นประธานของประโยค
ตัวอย่างเช่น
Shopping is waste time and money.
การไปช้อปปิ้งทำให้เสียทั้งเวลาและเงิน
Smoking has been unpopular.
สูบบุหรี่กลายเป็นเรื่องล้าสมัยไปแล้ว
ใช้ Gerund เป็นกรรมของประโยค
ตัวอย่างเช่น
I like sleeping.
ชั้นชอบนอนหลับ
We love eating out.
พวกเราชอบกินข้าวนอกบ้าน
เราใช้ Gerund ตามหลัง verb เหล่านี้ด้วย เช่น
enjoy, dislike, feel like(want), give up(stop), deny, mind etc.
ตัวอย่างเช่น
Do you enjoy eating Thai food?
คุณชอบทานอาหารไทยไม๊?
I dislike walking and I hate the countryside.
ชั้นไม่ชอบเดิน และชั้นเกลียดชนบท
I don't feel like working in the afternoon.
ชั้นไม่อยากทำงานตอนบ่ายเลย
เราใช้ Gerund ตามหลัง prepositions เช่น
We apologise for replying this email late.
เราต้องขอประทานอภัยที่ตอบอีเมลล์ช้า
Who's responsible for making this mess?
ใครจะรับผิดชอบที่ได้สร้างปัญหาขึ้นมา
My brother is good at singing.
พี่ชาย/น้องชาย ของเราเก่งเรื่องร้องเพลง
และ แถมท้ายครับ
look forward to + -ing
(look forward to ตามด้วย Gerund, -ing form เสมอครับ)

ชั้นหวังว่าจะได้รับการตอบกลับในไม่ช้า (ใช้ในการเขียน จม.)
