หากพูดถึงเพลง over the rainbow หรือ somwhere over the rainbow หลายคนคงนึกถึงภาพยนตร์เรื่อง The Wizard of Oz เมื่อปี ค.ศ. 1939 ที่นำแสดงโดย Judy Garland (1922-1969) ทำนองของเพลงนี้ถูกแต่งโดย Harold Arlen และทางด้าน E.Y. Harburg นั้นเป็นผู้แต่งเนื้อร้อง ในภายหลังเพลงนี้ถูกจัดเป็นเพลงประจำตัวนักแสดงหญิงอย่าง Judy ไปโดยปริยาย
เวอร์ชั่นแรกนั้นเป็นผลงานของ Eva Cassidy (1963-1996) นักร้องสาวเสียงดีแห่งยุค 80's-90's ชาว american ผู้ได้รับรางวัล Washington Area Music Awards หรือ (Wammie Awards) ถึง 2 รางวัลในปี 1993 แต่น่าเสียดายที่เธอเสียชีวิตด้วยโรคมะเร็งในเวลาอีก 3 ปีถัดมา
