The Reading Room presents "John Cage and Philosophy of Experimental Music" a lecture by Atibhop Pataradetpisan, columnist at Siamrath Daily and Fine Art Magazine, followed by a discussion led by Viriya Sawangchot, lecturer at Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia, Mahidol University on Sunday February 12th; 5:00-7:00pm at The Reading Room, Bangkok.
The lecture focuses on John Cage's concept and influence on early experimental music during the 1950s; the influence of Eastern philosophy on Cage's music and his methodology; and the importance of the relation between Time and Space in Cage's and other experimental composers' works; and lastly, the association and obliteration of the boundaries between experimental music and other fields of practice and study.

การบรรยายเน้นเรื่องแนวคิดของ John Cage กับการก่อตัวและบุคลิกของ Experimental Music ในระยะเริ่มต้นในช่วงปี 1950 และเรื่องอิทธิพลของปรัชญาตะวันออกที่ส่งผลต่อรูปแบบการสร้างงานของ Cage ไปจนถึงประเด็น Time และ Space ในทัศนะของ Cage และนักประพันธ์เพลง Experimental อื่นๆ ที่ส่งผลต่อการจัดการกับชิ้นงานและสถานการณ์ด้วยกลวิธีต่างๆ รวมไปถึงการเชื่อมโยงและการลบเลือนพรมแดนระหว่างศิลปะแขนงต่างๆ ผ่าน Experimental music
