Beginning a new chapter in Barcelona I believe there are many turning corner waiting for you at each step of your life. Sometimes, when I was frustrated with my life with limitations that prevented me to act freely as I would like to, I would say to myself, “It too shall pass. There will be another turning corner waiting for me out there”. If I continue walking, doing what was necessary to do and then there will be a time where I could choose to change my life once again. Now, I am at another small new chapter in my life. After 1 year studying in small town in Niigata, Japan to 3 months internship in competitive investment banking industry in Tokyo. Two days ago, I was still in Tokyo but now I am in Barcelona, Spain, one of the most attractive destinations in Europe. After 30 hours of traveling since I had to go to Singapore first to change the flight, I arrived in Barcelona, felt both exhausted and excited at the same time. Even in the airport, I found it was hard to communicate and ask directions in English. I felt like I went back to the first time I first arrived in Japan. Another lost in translation! Finally, I managed to find the train station from the airport and took the train to Barcelona Sant. From there, walking with all luggages for almost half an hour, I finally arrived at the flat where I would spend the next 3 months. Then, the exhaustion and jet lag hit me. I felt so sleepy that I knew if I lay down, I probably would pass out for the next 10 hours. However, after reading the e-mails from other exchange students here about a festival “Montjuic, Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina”, a water, music, light and fireworks to bid farewell, every year, to La Merc่.”, I decided to hit downtown and spiced up my first night in Barcelona. The crowd was so huge that it filled up every single place on the street. (I just found out later that more than 120,000 people were there.) The firework turned out to be the highlight of the show. With the background of Avinguda de la Catedral, fountains and fireworks were dancing into the sky with the rymthms of famous rock and pop music. People lighted up a fire and waved it into the sky, lightened up the entire street. Young people were singing and dancing. It was a memorable night. Hi, it is amazing you are also in Barcelona!! I wish I knew this ealier... Just finished my one week holiday here and gonna go back to London today.
