............... Where Did You Sleep Last Night From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search "Where Did You Sleep Last Night," also known as "In The Pines" and "Black Girl," is a traditional American folk song which dates back to at least the 1870s, and is believed to be Southern Appalachian in origin. The identity of the song's author is unknown, but it has been recorded by dozens of artists in numerous genres. The song was first made popular by Lead Belly in 1944, while the 1952 version by Bill Monroe set the standard for country and bluegrass renditions. A 1993 acoustic version by grunge act Nirvana introduced the song to many people at the end of the twentieth century.

My girl, my girl, don't lie to me Tell me where did you sleep last night
In the pines, in the pines Where the sun don't ever shine I would shiver the whole night through
My girl, my girl, where will you go I'm going where the cold wind blows
In the pines, in the pines Where the sun don't ever shine I would shiver the whole night through
Her husband, was a hard working man Just about a mile from here His head was found in a driving wheel But his body never was found
My girl, my girl, don't lie to me Tell me where did you sleep last night
In the pines, in the pines Where the sun don't ever shine I would shiver the whole night through
My girl, my girl, where will you go I'm going where the cold wind blows
In the pines, in the pines Where the sun don't ever shine I would shiver the whole night through
My girl, my girl, don't lie to me Tell me where did you sleep last night
In the pines, in the pines Where the sun don't ever shine I would shiver the whole night through
My girl, my girl, where will you go I'm going where the cold wind blows
In the pines, in the pines Where the sun don't ever shine I would shiver the whole night through
