R The Star, an artist and his indefatigable support
R-The Star has become a household word today so that at the mention of his name, everyone knows this young man with a good voice. At the The Star reach for it contest in 2006, this northeastern young man climbed to stardom.
R or Anatpon Sirichoomsang, 24, was a native of Hnonghan district, Udon Thani. He is now a 3rd student in the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management at the Mahasarakham University. He has 3 sisters and is the only son in the family. His parents are both teachers.
Rs link with WVFT had its beginnings before he became a present-day popular artist.
When the tsunami struck in South Thailand towards the end of December 2004, WVFT was one of the first humanitarian organizations that reached out to help the affected survivors with such earnestness and consistency. WVFT set out to raise funds and support from other agencies, organizations and individuals and use these donations to help the tsunami-affected people. It was then the first time that R came in to help with WVFT. R and his band, SER participated in the charity concert that WVFT organized in Khon Kaen to raise money for the affected people. R and his band also performed at WVFTs booth in front of the Bangkok Bank, Thanon Hna Muang Branch, Khon Kaen to ask for donations. During this event, R and his band sold T-shirts and the proceeds went to help the tsunami-affected people.
After R became a fully-fledged band singer and a winner at The Star 3 contest, ample opportunity is now opened for him to perform and he is widely known in Thailand. R continues to work together with WVFT this year. He has offered to help raise funds and support needy children and those affected by AIDS without asking for any payment. On 29 June 2007, R joined Do Something Real mini-concert with The Star at Khon Kaen Nakhon Wittayalai School, Khon Kaen. About 3,400 students came in full strength. This was followed by a mini-concert at The Fairy Plaza, Khon Kaen. In the same evening, both mini-concerts were included at the 24-Hour Famine. This is an annual event that WVFT organizes to inspire the youth to do good works, give up food, reduce extravagant spending and give this money to help poor and needy children and those affected by AIDS.
From Khon Kaen, R moved on to many other provinces to play in concerts and invite the youth to do good works through WVFTs Famine activities. On 18 August 2007, an opportunity was given for the youth to demonstrate their skills in music at The Mall, Nakhon Ratchasima. About 28 bands participated in the music competition. Over 1,500 people came to this event. Then on 7 September 2007, R went to Chonburi to join Famine activities at the Pacific Park Siracha.
R was once interviewed by the mass media in which he said, While I was not yet with The Star 3, I had the opportunity to team up with WVFT in raising funds to help the tsunami-affected people through my singing. Concerning WVFTs Famine event, Ive gone to many provinces whenever I can. I want everyone to cut down extravagance, stop spending on any unnecessary things and instead give this money to help poor children who dont have money to go to school and the HIV-affected children. I want to invite every person to come and share the good things with the needy ones. For one day, we cut down and give up spending unnecessarily. For instance, we will not drink a can of coke, and instead give this money as a donation through WVFT. With many people joining in, we can become a powerful force.
R The Star is a good example of a new generation of people with a dream and who press on to fulfill that dream. Above all else, he is a model of consistency. He remains steadfast in his support to do good works for the less privileged ones.
WVFT wants to thank every one of the well-known artist and individuals in society for sacrificing their time and resources in joining with WVFT to help poor children, families and communities experience transformational life development in the future.
