Q & A With Miss USA Alyssa Campanella By Alyssa Zauderer 12:14 p.m. EDT, June 23, 2011 Alyssa Campanella's life was forever changed Sunday, June 19 when she was crowned Miss USA 2011. The Manalapan, N.J., local is no stranger to the pageant life. In October 2006, she was crowned Miss New Jersey Teen USA 2007 and represented New Jersey at Miss Teen USA 2007 placing 1st runner up. Campanella also starred in middle school and high school plays including "The Wizard of Oz," "Go Ask Alice," "The Outsiders" "Arsenic and Old Lace" and "Welcome to Illyria." Since receiving her crown, Campanella has been making stops all over New York. Wednesday evening she closed the New York Stock Exchange. We sat down with Campanella to learn some fun facts about her. Q. Favorite era of history? A.Campanella is currently interested in Mary Queen of Scots and reading about the Stuart era Q. Is there life in outer space? A. While Campanella isn't sure, she'd "like to believe we aren't the only ones out there." Q. Lincoln or Holland Tunnel? A. Lincoln Q. Favorite pizza place in New York? A. Angelo's Coal Oven Pizzeria in Midtown Q. What's a little known fact about you? A. Campanella actually hates wearing heels! Q. What do you wear on a normal day? A. "I like to be comfortable," said Campanella. Her comfortable wardrobe consists of loose shirts, leggings and being barefoot in her apartment Q. Favorite thing to cook? A. She enjoys baking and making pastries. Campanella also likes to channel her inner Italian and make pasta. Q. Do you like to make your own tomato sauce? A. "Yes! I think it's better that way," Q. Which Star Wars fan do you think is the most neglected? A. "I'd like to know more about Bail Organa, Princess Leia's adoptive father." Q.What was one of your favorite photo shoots? A. Campanella recently shot a commercial for JC Penney that allowed her to run freely on the beach for two hours. The commercial is on air now. Q. I've heard that people say you look like Amy Adams, what's your favorite Amy Adams movie? A. "Julie & Julia because I love to cook."
