A HAPPY LIFE

Most people seek happy, healthy, wealthy lives. We are taught what society thinks we need to know as we grow up in order for us to have good lives in the future. The good life is defined as attending a good university, getting higher education, having a good job, and earning a lot of money. If we want to achieve this dream, we have to face much competition.

Even kindergarten kids have to learn extra-courses -- like languages and music -- and even courses to prepare them for entrance into a good elementary school. Even when we have good jobs and good salaries, we still keep struggling for even better things, and then we have to work harder and harder. We spend our lives like mice running in an exercise wheel -- non-stop running. Sometimes we find that even though we have everything, we still do not feel happy. This means that we don’t understand the true meaning of happiness.

Happiness is not defined by which university we graduated from. Happiness is not what job we have. Happiness does not mean how much salary we are paid. When we talk about happiness, we are talking about a state of mind. Happiness means that we feel happy what we have and with what we have done.

We can be happy every minute if we feel that what we have is enough. This does not mean we have to stop working hard or give up our objectives. We still have our life goals and the ambition to achieve them, but it also means that we carefully plot our course and gradually work towards our goals step by step. Don’t think too big or act too big! If we have 10 baht, we should be proud of it, and try to think of how we can multiply it. Don’t compare yourself to someone else and don't spend more than the 10 baht you actually have.

Our great king has resurrected this approach to life and called it self-sufficiency or economic sufficiency. This kind of theory can be applied to anything not only to farmers who have worked their land according to the theory.

Walking slowly can make us happier, because we are able to notice the beautiful things around us that we used to overlook and we are able to share more time with the people we love. It is not necessary to be the best, just only to do our best. “Enough” is a good way for us to define the word, HAPPY. If we can do that, we will have happier lives.

The Eartha Planet

Very far away from the earth, around 6,000,000 light-years on the right side of Milky Way, there was a little planet named The Anymol. This planet was very beautiful. There were only animals and plants. No humans! They lived in peace and they ruled themselves. They worked for living and they do the same things as we do, even using the Internet, but they are not human.

In a little village in Free Woods, there was a mob of lambs talking about the popular novel, The Eartha Planet, written by JoJo, a kangaroo in the Ausy Woods.

“Nit, when I look up at the sky, I think of the Eartha Planet of Jojo. Is it possible for there to be a planet like he says in his book?” The little lamb Nunu said to her friends.
“I don’t think so,” Nit said.
“How come?” Nunu asked.
Nit replied, “It’s impossible that a lion would hunt our lambs.” “You see! Our ruler, Nanoe Lion the Great is so good!!”
“You can say that again, Nit! And also our teacher, Fexy Fox. He is such a kind teacher. I can’t imagine how he could eat us. Anyway, I don’t want to think about it,” the other lamb added.

Nunu kept quiet, but could not stop thinking about her doubts. After she had arrived home, she decided to ask her mother.

“Hi! My little lamb Nunu, How’s your school today?” Nini, a ewe mother said to her daughter.
“Fine, Mom. Mom, do you believe in the Eartha Planet? Do you think it is real?” Nunu asked her ewe mother.
“Baa.., for me, I think our universal is very huge. Maybe it exists, maybe not. Anyway, when I was young, I was curious about aliens. I thought there was a strange, intelligent, and fierce creature, named a human, existing somewhere in our universe. However, for some questions we cannot find out the answers by ourselves by simple thoughts or simple inventions, and we just give up on it and go on with our lives. Do you know that we’re lucky to be living here in The Anymol, a pleasant planet,” the ewe mother tried to explain to the little lamb.
“Ok! Mom,” Nunu smiled, “I will do my homework.”

One hour later, there was a call from outside the door.
“Hello! It's Badger Noi. Is Nunu there?” called the badger kit.
“Oh! Hi, Badger Noi. How are you doing?” said the ewe mother as she opened the door.
“Good afternoon, Mrs. Ewe Nini,” Badger Noi greeted her.
“Good afternoon, Mrs Ewe Nini!!” a peachick, Narak, and a little peafowl, Jaidee, said to the ewe mother too.
“Oh! Come on in. Nunu is the yard over there. Please take it easy!”

In the yard, the high voice of the peachick was heard.
“Nunu! Have you finished your homework yet? Can I copy it?" the peafowl, Jaidee, said.
“No way! You are supposed to do it by yourself. How lazy you are, peafowl!”
“But we can’t do it. It’s so hard! I don’t like Science, I like flying,” the peafowl said.
“Ok, Ok! I will teach you, fellow animals! Come on!” said Nunu.
“You are such a kind lamb!” they said together.
Today was Saturday. Nunu wanted to go to the Library of the Animal Nation. There she read, read, and read about the planets, the myths of the animals, etc. Even though she sat for hours, it seemed like no time at all for her. She closed her book, stood up, and walked to the librarian, Drone Doo Diidii, a big bee with thick glasses.
“Excuse me, Mr. Drone Doo Diidii. Could I ask you a question? How can I find a book about the Eartha Planet?” the little lamb Nunu asked.
“Oh! My dear lamb, buzz buzz, there is no bookabout it. It’s only a novel, it is fiction. That means it is not real, it is just a story. I’m sorry, buzz buzz,” Drone Doo Diidii replied.
“Thank you, Mr. Drone.”

Nunu left the library. She was walking and gazing at a wife-club, gossiping about their husbands. Mrs. Cow Pussy, a rich seal from the village, Mrs. Shark Sha with her baby pup, and Mrs. Cow Cindy, a wife of famous lawyer, were talking about their husbands have no time for them. Their husbands just worked and worked, but they looked like they enjoyed their lives, just talking and spending money.

“How can different species of animals can talk like that?” Nunu thought in her mind and walked away from them.

She sat down on a beach in the park near her house. She watched several animals around her and not tried to think about anything.

A little cub was playing a football with a dray of squirrels on the football field. Under the big tree, there was an old snake teaching the new mother rat to knit. On the stage, there was a rafter of turkey playing the violins. Every animal in the park had a wonderful time and smiling faces.

The clock hall in the park struck five times. It was 5 o’clock.

“Oh! It’s time for my swimming lesson,” Nunu thought. She recalled Miss Cow Sporty Ying’s face, the alligator who won the first place in the Anymolypic Games for the last five years.
Nunu smiled about what she was going to do. She always liked what she did. Now, she threw away the questions from her mind that she couldn’t solve. She thought that now she was happy. She had a happy life and lived in the happy place.
"Just enjoy my life! That’s it! I have to go now, Baa!!” She shouted.
