Browse to the website in question. 2. When the screen "There is a problem with this website's security certificate." comes up, Click "Continue to this website (not recommended). " 3. On the right hand side of the address bar, click on "Certificate Error". 4. Select "View Certificate" 5. Click the "Install Certificate" button 6. Click Next, Next, Finish, Click Yes 7. On the "The import was successful" window, Click OK 8. Click OK 9. Close ALL Internet Explorer windows 10. Start IE7 and browse to the URL 11. You should now be able to access the site without warnings.
Error Messages Popups I have attempted to download Adobe Reader but I get a popup that displays following message "Windows cannot access specified device, path or file. You may not have appropriate permissions to access this item" . Also, when I attempt to log in to a few websites like, Dept.of Navy Human Resources I receive a "Certificate Error: Navigation Blocked" popup. Can you help? I also get a few more popups like "sysfader" but I will leave that for another day. Windows XP Pro is the OS.
~Candy~ ---Hi and welcome. Are you on a work computer? archangel00 *--Yes, my wife had one brought from work.
~Candy~ I would say then, there are some restrictions that have been setup on her work computer and unfortunately, she'd have to check with her IT dept. to see if she is supposed to be able to get to these sites Some companies do not wish to have their employees be able to download any programs to install as well
archangel00 Hello AcaCandy, thank you for the greeting and yes, I am on a work computer. My wife brought one from work.
~Candy~ --See my reply above
archangel00 -We have had the computer for about a year and the errors had just popped up recently. We have been able to download programs we need since they use them at work, for example Adobe Reader. I did notice that some of the file names have turned "blue" in color could this be a consequence to that? Their IT person has been let go and they are not getting one for about 3-4 weeks.
~Candy~ -This is the second time that I've seen this error message posted today, so, I'm wondering if there were some Windows updates or something that broke things //www.adminscripteditor.com/edi...h_or_file..htm Does that apply? ~Candy~ --Also, are you running ZoneAlarm?
archangel00 ---Soory..long day went to bed.....yes, I am running ZoneAlarm
~Candy~ -Can you turn it off for a test, to see if the problem goes away? I'm thinking probably it will, then you will have to figure out what to tell ZoneAlarm so that it doesn't continue to block you.
archangel00 -Okay, will try and let you know.
archangel00 -Turned off ZoneAlarm. I was able to download Adobe Reader without error message. I still am getting "Certificate Error: Navigation Blocked" when I attempt to go to certain websites.
~Candy~ -That's probably an IE setting. You should look around to see if there is a prompt on expired certificates, or something similar. Are you sure these sites are safe? If so, you could also add them to your trusted sites.
As for Zonealarm, I can't stand the program myself and uninstalled it quite some time ago, as it gave me too much grief, but, there has to be some security setting in it that will PROMPT you to accept the download, etc.
pinktopaz -i keep getting the error navigation blocked certificate security problem i have ie7 these are trusted websites. thanks
~Candy~ -Hi and welcome. Is the date correct on your computer?
pinktopaz -Its an old laptop & the battery is burned out so the time & date are not correct. Is that why I am getting that error message?
Thank You,
~Candy~ -Yes, certificates have expiration dates, and if the date on your computer is before the certificate even expires, you'll receive that message.
However, usually the battery doesn't matter if you have the date and time set correctly and you are plugging into household current.
pinktopaz -Thank You so much!!! I do believe that You hit the nail on the head!
~Candy~ - You're welcome. You can mark the thread solved, look above below the thread title
