Among the many successful artists in Thailand, Visoot Chareanporn is considered a treasure. Lung Yai (Uncle Yai) is the nick name of this unusually talented painter, columnist and musician. His intimate relationship with nature has inspired him to create landscape paintings of remote countryside reflecting the truth of nature and his astounding emotion and spirit. He was also a columnist for Thai Rath, one of the oldest and best-selling newspapers in Thailand. His column was called: "What Is Art.".
Doi Luang Chiang Dao (3 days 2 Nights) This program is a jungle trekking in the 2nd difficulty. Anyone who wants to join in this trip must be moderately healthy. We will bring you to see one of the most beautiful mountain peaks of Thailand. We can go there only 3 months in a year because forest in this area is in wildlife protection zone. The fertility level of the forest is still very good. Well then, let’s see short description of this trip.
The first day 06.00: Pick up passengers at meeting point. When they are ready, we will go Chiang Dao with red local taxi which is common for residents who want to go from Chiang Mai to Chiang Dao and this takes about 60 minutes. 09.00: Lead all passengers to checkpoint, officers will check things and bags whether they are suitable to carry up there or not (We must bring all belongings and rubbish to the officers for checking again after we come back). Then we go to Denyakhat station (it takes about 2 hours) 11.00: We leave Denyakhat station to Doi Luang Chiang Dao. The route is about 8 kilometers long and walking time is about 6 hours. During the walk you will see many plants and birds that you can take photos along the way. 13.00: We stop by the resting point to have lunch (This meal must be brought from Chiang Dao). then we walk further. 17.00: We arrive at Saloong bay, prepare the tent together and rest. You will fully feel the chill (Not below 2 degree Celsius). Feel the air and atmosphere on top of the mountain after that we eat dinner together.
The second day 05.00: Anyone who wants to take photo of the rising sun should be prepared. Walk to the top of Doi Luang Chiang Dao (Walk for 30 minutes) and shoot photos as you like. 08.00: Walk down from the mountain, have breakfast at the camp and rest for a bit. After that go to Kewlom to take photos of the view and plants as you like. (Walk for 60 minutes). We will prepare food for lunch during the travel. 15.00: We walk to the camp, everyone should rest as they like. 17.00: Go up to the top of Doi Luang again to take photos of the setting sun then we have dinner at the camp. Everyone rest as they like. The third day 05.00: Anyone who wants to take photos of morning atmosphere of North and South Kewlom should be prepared to walk. 08.30: Come back to the camp and have breakfast and then remove the tent. We will go back to Chiang Dao using Pangwua route and it takes about 5 hours. 16.30: We arrive at Chiang Dao and will go back to Chiang Mai by red local taxi as usual. Send everyone back to the accommodation and meet again in the next trip.
The cost for each person is 3,200 THB. (Minimum 6 passengers) *** The foreigner will pay for actual entrance fee (400 Baht for 1 person) *** If you want personal carrier, you have to pay 600 Baht for 1 day (Total 1,800 Baht) *** Please read forest trekking manual before travel, you will prepare things more correctly.
Essential equipments you have to prepare 1. Dishes, bowls, spoons, glasses 2. Very thick sweater 3. Socks, gloves 4. Sleeping bags (Not smaller than 200) 5. Medication 6. Clothes for 2 nights in Chiang Dao + come back to Chiang Mai 7. Baby wipe (There is no water on the montains) 8. Tent (please bring with you if you have) If you have no tent please inform us. We will arrange the tent for you. 9. Suitable shoes for forest trekking. 10. Flashlight (a must have because very dangerous in the night)
