Newly crowned Miss USA, Erin Brady stopped by for a visit at The Today Show with Matt Lauer. The Connecticut beauty is a 25 year old accountant. Ms. Brady came across as a well-spoken, smart and lovely woman.
But in the digital age in which we live, smart and poised does not have the cache that it once did. In the middle of the interview Lauer trotted out infamous Miss Utah, Marissa Powell. Talk about awkward. Miss USA had to split her time in the spot light with a woman who went viral for flubbing an answer to a pretty straight forward question.
If Miss USA was sitting there with the first runner up that might have made a tiny bit of sense. But making Ms. Brady sit there with the third runner up who achieved infamy for answering a question with mindless gibberish was nothing short of obnoxious.
To her credit Ms. Brady was a good sport about the whole thing. She sat quietly while Lauer offered redemption to Ms. Powell by asking the pageant question again and giving her a chance to answer. This time she actually made some sense.
Miss USA 2013 Erin Brady awkward visit to 'The Today Show' The interview was redeemed when Lauer asked Erin to shout out her grandmother who she had not been able to see since winning her crown. In a truly great moment Lauer surprised Erin and invited her grandmother to join them live. Erin could barely contain her emotions at the sight of her grandmother.
The interview went on a wild journey from a little bit bland to extremely obnoxious and finally stopping firmly on sweet.
