Nintendo Europe's press office said a figure of 10 million that was reported Tuesday and appeared on the company's Web site was incorrect. However, a spokeswoman said she could not explain the source of that figure.
A company statement Thursday said that "approximately 13 million Nintendo DS are now in the hands of people all around the world."
It also said it has sold almost 3.5 million of the devices to European consumers since its launch on the continent in March. It did not give figures for sales in other regions.
Nintendo has issued an official apology on their website regarding the DS being sold out. Next stocks will arrive towards the end of Jan.

Domestic sales of Nintendo Co. Ltd.'s DS portable game machine reached 5 million units in less than 13 months
after its launch in early December 2004, the fastest-ever pace in Japan's video game market, Nintendo said on Monday.
Nintendo's Game Boy Advance took 14 months to hit the 5 million mark in Japan, and Sony Corp.'s PlayStation 2 took 17 months,
the Kyoto-based company said. "Selling 5 million units in less than 14 months means DS is the fastest
among any game machines ever launched in Japan to hit that level," Nintendo President Satoru Iwata told a news conference.

NDS is beating the PSP almost 3 to 1 in that territory, with the PSP racking up 161,000 sales for the week
and almost 2.1 million in its liftime. By comparison, even the PlayStation 2 only sold 97,000 for the week

ทีนี้มาดูของ PS2 บ้าง ซึ่ง PS2 เคยขายได้สูงสุด 97,000 เครื่องใน 1 สัปดาห์ และสูงสุด 1.8 ล้านเครื่องใน 1 ปี จนทุกวันนี้จำหน่ายไปแล้ว 11.3 ล้านเครื่องเท่านั้น (PS2 จำหน่ายวันแรกที่ญี่ปุ่นเมื่อ March 4, 2000) เทียบกันแล้ว PS2 ใช้เวลา 6 ปีขายได้ 11 ล้านเครื่อง แต่ DS 1 ปีขายได้ 5 ล้านเครื่อง
