Nadal: "I sign now to play the Roland Garros final against Federer"
"In Paris, we will see who will reaches the final. We talk a lot about Paris and still remains. Federer has the potential to win in Paris and to win anywhere else. It is one of the favorite there, but the tournament begins with the first round not with the final. Let's hope I'll play with him the final in Paris. If you give me a paper and I sign now, "said Rafa Nadal, who not make any excuse for setback in Madrid.
"I normally do not make excuses. If I'm tired is because I used more time in the semifinal and because he didn't. It is a "putada" to play four hours yesterday, yes. That can not be denied. But the reality is that he played better than I did. Once it affect some and other time the others. The court was very fast. If you have spark you can react and counter. He was very aggressive and has been better than me, "Nadal insisted.
"Everything is a balance. When one plays well, the other plays worse and when one play worse is easier for the other to play better. I think he played better at all times. The conditions of the tournament are more favorable for him and if you're not at one hundred percent it is normal for him to win, "said world number one, who does not believe that what happened in Madrid has any relation to what may happen in Roland Garros.
"My feeling is that this tournament has nothing to do with Paris. I'm not saying that I will play better in Paris, but this surface is completely different from Roland Garros," said Nadal, who saw no reason to find a positive of defeat.
Any analyze on the defeat. There is not much to analyze in the match. He made me a 'break' and a 'break' and he sent me home. The few opportunities to get back into the match, at the begining with options of break, have gone. In all other aspects, he has been better. When you play against Federer or you are at hundred percent or it is nearly impossible, "he added.
Nadal praised the Madrid tournament. Especially as it can be in the future. "The best thing was the special atmosphere that has been. Espectacular people, which has encouraged a lot. It's great for tennis. The central court is spectacular. To improve, an installation that has it all, for the players a large locker room and above all the training courts wich have been wrong. In all other respects, is a tournament with a huge potential. Only short history and tradition. For everything else, has to be the best. And have it the best, who are peoples, " said the world number one, reflecting no discomfort in his knee suffered during the semifinal.
"I am OK with the knee. I did not felt anything yesterday. I need a bit of energy. I am a bit apathetic after the adrenaline from yesterday semifinal," said Rafa Nadal, who will rest a few days before leaving for Paris to defend his Roland Garros title.
ก่อนหน้านี้อังเดรให้สัมภาษณ์ว่าถ้าราฟาคว้าแชมป์ที่วิม ราฟามีโอกาสมาก ๆ ที่จะคว้า Gloden Slam ในปีนี้ ราฟาให้สัมภาษณ์กับเรื่องนี้ว่า : "Firstly I'd like to thank Andre for his kind words," said Nadal. "This is not a goal for me right now. My only goal is to practice for the next tournament, I don't think about the Grand Slam, just the next tournament."
For me the clay court season has been a dream. I've won a lot of matches, titles, I'm winning the race and I've defended a lot of points," said the 22-year-old.
"I am already qualified for the (season-ending) championships in London and that is always a goal. I've had a very good season so far and I'm very happy with how the first five months has gone for me."
I love you,Safina Rafa is my idol, says grand slam-seeking Safina
MADRID, May 17 (Reuters) - World number one Dinara Safina is using men's counterpart and claycourt maestro Rafael Nadal as her inspiration as she bids for a first grand slam title at the French Open starting later this month.
"At the moment I can say that my idol is Nadal and I am trying to play like him," the 23-year-old, younger sister of former men's number one Marat Safin, told a news conference. "The truth is I respect him a great deal and I am trying to be at his level."
Always fair, Rafael Nadal doesnt look for excuses after his defeat against Roger Federer (6-4, 6-4) in the Masters 1000 final of Madrid. The Spaniard acknowledges the superiority of the Swiss in this final but he remains confident for Roland Garros. He also makes the balance of this tournament.

Rafael Nadal PRESS CONFERENCE
Q : Yesterday, you said that the match against Novak Djokovic fatigued you. Didnt you pay a bit for it against Federer for the energy you spent? Rafael Nadal: No, Im not the sort of person to look for excuses. If I was fatigued, its because I played longer than I should have yesterday. Anyway, what I wanted to say is that I arrived on court more tired than he was of course. The truth is that he only played for one hour and a half because in the semis because he played better than I. The court is very, very fast. He took advantage of it from the beginning and he was better. Thats all I wanted to say.
Q: Did he play well or did you not evolve (?) well on court? R.N. I think that above all, its a matter of equilibrium. You make mistakes you shouldnt be making, thereby offering opportunity to your opponent. Today (yesterday), Roger took full advantage of it. However, I think that he played better and this throughout the entire match. However, the conditions are a lot different here compared with classic clay courts. It was hard to stop him because the court suited him but also because he was very good. Anyway, to play against Federer isnt easy and the conditions favored him. If you are not 100%, its difficult if not impossible to fight and I think that he deserved this victory today more than I did.
Q: Through this defeat, we can see that youre human, that somebody can beat you. Are you able to take something positive out of it? R.N.: Nothing positive. I think that theres nothing to analyse. I was never in the match because Federer didnt give me the opportunity. In the rare opportunities I had, he played better than me.
Q: Is your confidence affected by this defeat? R.N.: I am the world number one, I won three out of four clay court tournaments, Im still on the list for London. Im delighted with the first five months of the season. I dont know what else I can do to be confident.
Q: Do you think that Roger Federer has the possibilities to win in Paris ? R.N.: Hes one of the favourites in Paris. But before talking about the final, you have to get past the first round. A Grand Slam tournament is won by starting with the first round. If you would give me on paper that I would meet him in the Roland Garros final, I would sign right now.
Q: It was the first time you played in the Caja Magica. What did you think of it? R.N.: First of all; the atmosphere. The public was really great and thats very important for a big tournament like this one. However, without criticizing, I think that the locker rooms are too small for a Masters of this stature. Another issue is that the training courts were not fit for a tournament that wants to be the biggest clay event after Roland Garros. But note, its the first year at the Caja Magica (magical box, editor), those things can and will improve. The most important thing is that people show up, like they did for this first edition.
Q : Whats the status of your knee problem that you twitched during the semis? R.N.: Its going very well. I had no pain at all during the match. Im going to rest 3 to 4 days and from Wednesday, I will be back to prepare for Roland Garros.
Q : André Agassi said that he sees you win the Grand Slam this year. What do you think? R.N.: Thats very nice of him. Now my only goal is to train well and to play well in Roland Garros.
