"I deserved this win," said Nadal. "I had all of the chances and he didn't. I also had two match points. I picked up my game in the third set and started serving better.
"I found my rhythm, but I had a bad game in the first set before I started playing better. I'm in the second round and I expect a better result. I'm hoping to play better." "This is one the fastest courts I played on the last year and I was difficult to pick up my rhythm also because he played so fast," Nadal said.
"Everyone is talking about pressure after I won a tournament but I just feel less pressure after such a good year like 2008," added Nadal, who will face 17-year-old Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov on Thursday in the second round.
"Dimitrov can be a top player in the future and he will be motivated playing against the world's number one, something I experienced in 2004 in Miami, so I expect a tough match."

Applaud his accomplishments instead of mourning all of the things he's taken from Federer. Credit his prodigious tennis skill, his superb athleticism, his unrivaled mental toughness and his kindness. Marvel at his consistency and admit that his number one ranking is NOT in name only."
"My kids adore Nadal. He is so very approachable and a true champion at heart. He played some tennis with them on Mallorca, and since then Nadal is their hero. When he had to leave Court One one day because of the pouring rain, he actually stopped and signed autographs for some children in the crowd. He got really wet, but he didn't care. He realised that these children came out to see him, and as he only played a few games because of the rain, he thought the least he could do was stop and sign their programs. As a father, I know what this means to children. The game of tennis needs new young fans and players, and stars like Nadal inspire the youngsters." - Richard Krajicek

Sometimes, theres a moment of rest, like yesterday, when I spent a very calm half hour in the locker room, talking to Nadal. I cant write this column without dropping his name because the impact of the world number one on our tournament is really unknown. People are literally queuing for hours to get an autograph of this star and yesterday, when Nadal played his first round match, we didnt even have a free seat left in the toilets. You can only admire the way Nadal deals with all this attention, especially when you consider the fact that hes only 22 years old. >>> ดูความฮอตของราฟาค่ะ คู่อื่นเก้าอี้โล่ง ๆ แต่พอราฟาตีเต็ม ตั๋วขายเกลี้ยง^^
During our conversation in the locker room, he told me that he could still very well remember our first meeting. As part of the Nike Junior Program, he played in Badhoevedorp as a junior and I visited them for a day. At that moment, I obviously didnt realize that I was dealing with the future world number one so I had to confess to him that I dont remember our first meeting. Nadals memory is clearly better. He even knew that I lost a tough match during my last Wimbledon against Malisse with 9-7 in five sets. Its perhaps not the nicest match to be reminded about but it is nice to hear that a great player like Nadal has locked duels like that into his memory.
What strikes me about Nadal is that he hasnt only improved on court but his command of the English languages has improved with leaps and bounds. Last year, a conversation was still very much a bit of a struggle but nowadays, the Spaniards English is fine and you can even really joke with him. We had a delicious sushi in the fantastic VIP-village in Ahoy before my busy schedule forced me to get on with my next task.
