The sampling rate?
The sampling rate of an HDTV can be either interlaced or progressive. Have you ever seen video from a PC screen on the evening news? If so, you may have noticed how the screen have to have a constant stream of "sweeping" lines, almost like a slide show appears. This is an interlaced image, prominently available on computer screens. Similarly interlaced refresh HDTVs (and monitors) every second line of the image, every other time. The process is invisible to the naked eye. However, interlaced screens are known, the "eye distress", she warned that the adults, if you sat too close to the TV set to cause as children.
Progressive sets, on the other side, refresh every line every single time, like a long "sweep" in the other window down by one. Progressive images are easier on the eyes, showing a smooth viewing image with less "jaggies," and as a result, cost a little more
Interlaced HDTV - 1080i - have basically extinct. All HDTVs come in these days you will be 1080p or "progressive".
