ผู้เข้าประกวด MISS EARTH 2008 แสดงความสามารถพิเศษในการประกวด MISS TALENT (02/11/2008)
Thirty-three of the eighty-five official candidates of Miss Earth 2008 participated in the Talent Night Competitions held at Villa Imaculada Hall of Tamayo's Restaurant in Intramuros Manila.
Two notable contenders were Miss Australia, Rachel Smith, who did a rhythmic gymnastic exercise using the ribbon apparatus. It was one of the crowd pleaser performance of the night. She was a member of a gymnastic club way back in her hometown in Australia. Bhutan's Tsokye Tsomo Karchung impressed the judges with her belly dance with a latin flavor. She gyrates with much gusto to the tune of a Shakira's classic song.
Other notable performances were from Miss Ghana who did an initiation dance called Otufo, it is usually performed for a lady up for marriage. Miss Nicaragua performed a traditional dance that depicts of Maya music. Miss Kosovo belted a popular song in the 80's "That's What friends Are For" popularized by Dione Warwick and company. Miss South Africa recited a poem inspired by love for life and nature. Miss Lithuania showed a little part of Paris with Moulin Rouge retro style, Miss Singapore portrayed a Chinese girl doing an Indian Bollywood dance to display their country's diverse culture. Miss Dominican Republic also performed a dance called "Meringue" the official traditional music in her native land. Miss Liberia rendered a dance called "Sorsoni", another traditional dance for youths. Miss Chinas displayed her expertise in fencing. She has won first place in China Inter-University swordplay competition. Miss India performed a snake dance, one of most popular traditional dance in India.
The proceeds of the event will go the benificiaries of Miss Earth Foundation headed by Catherine Untalan, former Miss Earth Water. The winner of the Best in Talent Award will be known on Nov. 4 during the First Miss Earth Designers' Competition to be held in Manila Film Center.
