PANAMA CITY, May 21 - Carolina Dementiev Justavino (19) was crowned 'Realmente Bella 2008' during the conclusion of a reality TV show that lasted 8 weeks. Carolina, who stands 1.73 m tall, is a professional model, swimmer, TV host and law student. She will now represent Panama at the Miss Universe 2008 pageant in Nha Trang, Vietnam, July 13th.
The 1st runner-up was Karina Pinilla (19), a former Elite Model titleholder.
The 2nd runner-up was Estefania Varela (20), who is expected to compete in the Miss Tourism Queen International pageant next year.
The 3rd runner-up was Ginelle Saldaña Gonzalez (24). The 1.77 m beauty will represent Panama at the Miss Earth 2008 contest in the Philippines, next November.
'Realmente Bella' was a new name given by the producers of Senorita Panama to market the pageant in a new direction, after it had been cancelled in 2005 due to low ratings.
10 women competed in the event. Weekly eliminations ended with the final group of four contestants who competed in the final.
The crowning was held behind closed doors with no audience. Only the judges and the production team was allowed inside the studio. A press conference will be held after the show to announce the winner to the media.
