Peckover House & Garden became a property of the National Trust in 1948, after World War II, when the Peckover family donated the house and its estate to the Trust
The Peckovers were a prominent Quaker family, influential in local banking and charitable efforts. Their strong commitment to community welfare, combined with the lack of direct heirs willing to maintain the estate, led them to entrust the property to the National Trust to ensure its preservation and public accessibility
The house is a classic example of Georgian architecture from 1722, featuring elegant rococo interiors and decorative panelling in rooms such as the Drawing Room, Dining Room, and others. The library offers a peaceful atmosphere with original 18th-century furniture
Visitors can also explore the former banking hall, which includes a vault and lockers in the basement
Today, the house is open to the public for tours and visits
