- Manchester United 0 - 0 Lille Metropole
Champions League Group D
Manchester United 0 Lille Metropole 0 Old Trafford, Tuesday 18 October
United were left frustrated, down to ten men and unable to puncture a stubborn Lille rearguard at Old Trafford on Tuesday, succumbing to their second 0-0 draw of their Group D campaign.
Sir Alex's side remain top of Group D courtesy of Villarreal's 1-1 draw with Benfica at El Madrigal.
But without the influence of the injured Roy Keane and the creativity of the suspended Wayne Rooney, United were somewhat toothless in their display with scoring chances were few and far between.
Ryan Giggs wore the captain's armband - a fitting tribute to the Welsh winger's longevity at the top level - to mark his 100th European appearance for the Reds.

The Two R's Work Their Goalscoring Magic
Fulham 2 United 3, Craven Cottage FA Premier League
Fulham 2 Manchester United 3 Craven Cottage, 1 Oct 2005
There was no mention of boring football at Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon where Manchester United and Fulham provided rich entertainment for the sell-out crowd.
Ruud van Nistelrooy and Wayne Rooney continued to monopolise Uniteds Premiership scoring by grabbing all the goals in a 3-2 win down by the Thames. The Dutch Master scored twice, one from the penalty spot, whilst Rooney was also on the mark.
It was quite simply the best game of football in which United have been involved since the season began six weeks ago.
The main talking point amongst United supporters on the journey south to the capital was predictably skipper Roy Keanes revelation that he is intends to leave United at the end of the current. The back pages of the national papers were scrutinised as the fans offered their opinions on that burning subject and any others that may have cropped up since they last met on an away excursion.

- Manchester United 2 - 1 Benfica
Champions League, Group D
Manchester United 2 Benfica 1 Old Trafford, 27 Sept 2005
Just when it seemed United couldn't buy a second goal in a game, Ruud van Nistelrooy snatched a late winner to seal a 2-1 victory over Benfica in this Champions League Group D tie.
The Dutchman struck with five minutes remaining in a tense finish after Simao Sabrosa's free-kick had earlier cancelled out Ryan Giggs opening goal.
United's fans sang Sir Alex Ferguson's name throughout, a show of unity against the recent wave of criticism following a disappointing September which saw United draw three games and lose one before this victory.
