Liverpool and United fought out their first ever Premiership goalless draw in front of a packed Anfield this afternoon (Sunday).

It was a typically passionate clash between these two great rivals – the two most successful clubs in English football history – but there were few genuine chances at either end.

Neither side could be faulted for their commitment to the contest – it was end-to-end for most of the ninety minutes – but ultimately it was the defences who could claim to have won the day.
