William J. O Neil ปรมาจารย์ด้านหุ้น ได้กล่าวถึง ข้อผิดพลาด 19 ประการ ที่มวลชน ทำผิดซ้ำๆซากๆ ไว้ในบทที่ 8 ของ Part II: Be Smart From the Start ในหนังสือ Best Seller "HOW TO MAKE MONEY IN STOCKS"
เรามาตรวจดู ว่ามีข้อไหนตรงกับเรามั่ง แล้วจะแก้ไขอย่างไรดี
1. Stubbornly holding onto losses when they are small and reasonable
กอดขาดทุน ด้วยคิดว่า หุ้นนี้มีปัจจัยพื้นฐานดี เดี๋ยวมันก็คงจะกลับมา ทั้งๆที่ความจริง อาจจะเป็น ขาลง แล้วก็ได้ และเมื่อขาดทุนมาก ก็จะตัดใจขายไม่ลง เงินทุนจมหายไป ต่อหน้าต่อตา
2. Buying on the way down in price, thus ensuring miserable results
ซื้อหุ้น เพราะเห็นว่า มันลงมาถูกแล้ว หารู้ไม่ นี่อาจจะเป็นจุดเริ่มต้น ของการลง ก็ได้
3. Averaging down in price rather than up when buying
ซื้อถัวเฉลี่ยราคาตอนหุ้นลง ไม่ซื้อถัวเฉลี่ยราคาตอนหุ้นขึ้น (ถ้ายิ่งซื้อแล้วยิ่งได้ในราคาถูกลงถูกลง ไม่รู้สึกแปลกหรือครับ)
4. Buying large amounts of low-priced stocks rather than smaller amounts of higher priced stocks
ซื้อหุ้นราคาถูก เพราะเห็นว่าซื้อได้เยอะดี ไม่ซื้อหุ้นที่ราคาสูง เพราะเห็นว่าซื้อได้น้อย ในพอร์ตเลยมีแต่หุ้นไม่เต็มบาท หุ้นบลูชิพไม่มีเลย
5. Wanting to make a quick and easy buck
เล่นแต่หุ้นปั่น หวังรวยเร็ว
6. Buying on tips, rumors, split announcements, and other news hear from supposed market experts on TV
ซื้อเพราะเชื่อคนอื่น ไม่มีหลักของตัวเองในการวิเคราะห์
7. Selecting second-rate stocks because of dividends or low price-earnings ratios
ซื้อหุ้นคุณภาพต่ำ เพียงเพราะเห็นว่า ปันผลสูง หรือ เพราะเห็นว่า พีอีต่ำ
8. Never getting out of the starting gate properly due to poor selection criteria and not knowing exactly what to look for in a successful company
ไม่ยอมขายทิ้ง เมื่อเลือกหุ้นผิด ไม่รู้วิธีเลือกหุ้นดี
9. Buying old names you're familiar with

12. Cashing in small, easy-to-take profits while holding the losers
ตัวไหนมีกำไรรีบขาย ตัวไหนขาดทุน กอดยาว ชอบเก็งกำไรในหุ้นพื้นฐานดี ชอบลงทุนในหุ้นเก็งกำไร
13. Worrying too much about taxes and commissions
ถึงเวลาขาย ไม่ขาย เพราะกลัวไม่คุ้มกับค่าคอมฯที่เสียไป
14. Concentrating your time on what to buy and once the buy decision is made, not understanding when or under what conditions the stock must be sold

15. Failing to understand the importance of buying quality companies with good institutional sponsorship and the importance of learning how to use charts to significantly improve selection and timing
