When he was asked if this Roland Garros title represented 27 years of longing fulfilled, Federer almost laughed as he delivered what may be the best line of his career:
"First, I never waited 27 years, because 27years ago I was just born. My parents never told me, If you don't win Roland Garros we take you to the orphanage."
And despite the dedication and discipline required by Federer's role in the game, when he was asked if walking away from the game tomorrow would find him a happy man,
he said:
"Yeah, it would I always said it doesn't matter when I retire, I'll be at peace. I can walk away from this game tomorrow, but I don't choose to because I love this game too much."
I don't choose to because I love this game too much. . .

Federer Eyes Record 15th Grand Slam Title At Wimbledon; In Pursuit Of Regaining No. 1
ATP stats and information guru Greg Sharko looks at the numbers behind the stories of the ATP World Tour in his regular column, 'Shark Bites'.
The battle for the No. 1 position in the South African Airways 2009 ATP Rankings is heating up and there could be a change at the top after Wimbledon.
Roger Federer collected his first Roland Garros title on June 7 to complete a career Grand Slam and equal Pete Sampras' all-time Grand Slam titles mark of 14. The Swiss superstar finds himself a Wimbledon title away from regaining No. 1, depending on Nadal's result.
Federer went into Roland Garros 4,490 points behind the Spaniard but after winning the title, he cut the margin to 2,070 points on 8 June. Nadal's lead is 2,115 going into Wimbledon. Both players withdrew from grass court tournaments in preparation for Wimbledon and lost 450 points from their respective 2008 titles won in Queen's (Nadal) and Halle (Federer). Nadal added 45 points to his total for a tournament that previously didn't count. Federer did not add points.
DEUCE: Federer's Quest For No. 1
If Federer wins his sixth Wimbledon title and Nadal loses before the semi-finals, then the Swiss will regain No. 1 on 6 July. World No. 3 Andy Murray could go to No. 2 by winning Wimbledon but no higher. Murray's title at Queens won't change his total since he already has 250 points that he won at Doha in January. His 0-point penalty from Indianapolis stays on for 12 months and will drop on July 20. Then the Queen's points (250) will replace the 0-pointer at that time.
All four ranking positions could change depending on the results at Wimbledon. Here is a round-by-round projected points breakdown after Wimbledon:
