Glimpse
Once upon a time, I saw a man who lived by making sugar dolls. The man sat with a boy on one side of a street. During the busy hour, people walked by and by. The boy asked the man: How should we go through this life.
The man picked up one lump of his colored sugar. He then melted it and made it into the shape of a doll. The figure became more and more complex. The color mixed and became beautiful. At the same time, the man told the boy: Life is like a sugar doll, be patient, be gentle.
The boy did not believe him. He said that his words are not true. Many, many people pass a life with dazzling actions, soaked with blood and full of tear. The man then smiled. He said no matter how life become that adventurous, there should be silence at the core.
"For it is the only way that you will hear your own voice."
"I always hear my own voice."
"But the voice will never come through your mouth," the man chuckled. "It will only come from the heart. Be patient about life, my son. Embrace it deep. Even if it is full of thorns. Even when you are sad and lose. Even when you become stranger to yourself or when you cry and no one seem to hear nor understand. Even when there seems to be no way at all. Life will unfold itself. It will not, never, become something you expect it to be."
The boy did not understand. Perhaps he will, perhaps he won't. The man knew that people find truth in different ways.
"Let there be silence at the core, and live your life fondly," he added. "There are many ways to express your fondness. Choose whatever you like."
"But then it will become too broad."
"But then it is your life."
