Just thought I would share the latest, we have done 2 visa runs from the town of Kanchanaburi to a border crossing at Burma. Very easy, just get a cab, its roughly 1000 baht return, they will take, wait for you to do the stamping out/in and bring you back. The crossing is called Ban Nam Pu Ron. It takes roughly an hour and fifteen mins to get there, allow an hour or two to get the visa which is 600 baht and then same time again to get back into town!
