Close to You : ฉลองไมค์ใหม่กันเหอะ หลังจากที่ทำเสียงกะละมังข้างห้องแตกไปหลายใบแล้ว ก็เลยสำนึกได้ว่าควรจะหาไมค์อันใหม่มาเปลี่ยนได้สักที เพื่อที่จะทรมานคนอื่นให้น้อยลง (แต่ก็ยังทรมานอยู่ดี 555) ก็นั่งนึกอยู่ว่า จะเอาเพลงอะไรมาสังเวย เอ้ย ฉลองไมค์อันใหม่ดี Close to You ก็แว๊บเข้ามาซะเฉยๆ จากเพลงธรรมดาที่ไม่ได้เป็นที่รู้จักมากนักในอัลบั้ม ภายหลังการแสดงร่วมกันระหว่าง the Carpenters และ Burt Bacharach นักเปียโน และนักแต่งเพลงชื่อดัง ในงาน the Westbury Music Fair ที่ Long Island ปี 1970 จากนั้นเพียง 6 สัปดาห์ Close to You ก็ขึ้นอันดับ 1 ในทุกๆชาร์ต และกลายเป็น the Carpenters' first gold single ที่มียอดขายกว่า 1.8 ล้านแผ่นทั่วโลกเลยทีเดียว CLOSE TO YOU Why do birds suddenly appear Every time you are near?
