What documents are required when applying for a visa to enter the Republic of China (Taiwan)? 1. A passport with validity for at least six months.
*The passport must not be noted Prohibited from entering the Republic of China.
2. A properly completed visa application form.
* The form can be obtained free of charge from ROC embassies, consulates or representative offices, as well as from the Bureau of Consular Affairs (BOCA) and the Central, Southern, Eastern branch offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
* The form can also be downloaded from BOCAs Web site.
* The applicant must sign the form to confirm the truthfulness of the forms contents.
3. Two photographs
*The photographs must be 2"x2" in size.
*The photographs must be taken within the last six months.
*The photographs must be in color, and must be taken against an off-white backgtound.
4. Other supporting documents according to the applicants' visit purpose.

Enforcement Rules for the Issuance of ROC Visas to Foreign-Passport Holders
Article 2 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (hereinafter referred to as the Ministry) and overseas missions of the Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as ROC overseas missions) shall collect the following fees when handling visas:
1. Visa fees 2. Special handling fees 3. Postage and telegram charges.
The aforementioned fees, the amounts for which are set out in Articles 3, 4 and 5 below, shall be paid according to where the visa application is submitted and in the currency specified as follows: 1. Visa fees for applications made in Taiwan shall be paid in New Taiwan dollars (hereinafter referred to as NT dollars). 2. Visa fees for applications made at ports of entry in Taiwan shall be paid in NT or US dollars. 3. Visa fees for applications made outside of Taiwan (hereinafter referred to as overseas) shall be paid in US dollars. If payment is made in a local currency, the amount payable shall be calculated by ROC overseas missions to be the equivalent of the stipulated US-dollar amount, and submitted to the Ministry for prior approval.
Article 3
Fees are categorized into visitor visa fees and resident visa fees. The rates are as follows: 1. Single Entry Visitor Visa: NT$1,600 per application made in Taiwan; US$50 per application made overseas. 2. Multiple Entry Visitor Visa: NT$3,200 per application made in Taiwan; US$100 per application made overseas. 3. Single Entry Resident Visa: NT$2,200 per application made in Taiwan; US$66 per application made overseas. 4. Multiple Entry Resident Visa: NT$4,400 per application made in Taiwan; US$132 per application made overseas.
Article 4
Special handling fees shall apply as follows: 1. An additional charge of NT$800 or US$24 shall apply to visa applications made on arrival at ports of entry in Taiwan. 2. An additional 50% surcharge on rates as stipulated according to the different visa types in Article 3 shall apply to rush handling. However, if the request for rush handling is made in response to an emergency or to fulfill official duties, the applicant may be exempted from the additional charge. 3. An additional charge of NT$800 or US$24 shall apply to applications made in Taiwan by holders of a visitor visa who wish to reapply for a different type of visitor visa or a resident visa. 4. Visa applications made by passport-holders from countries that charge a special handling fee to holders of a Taiwan passport shall be charged the equivalent additional amount for each visa application.
The rush handling mentioned in Item 2 above refers to the Ministry or ROC overseas missions , in consideration of the urgency of the situation, either dispatching specially-assigned personnel to immediately process applications or issuing a visa earlier than the standard processing time.
