Ko Byeong Hee is not an ordinary 33 year old single woman. Rather, she is a woman with passion, intelligence, and sex appeal. What more could you ask for? Well, certainly a lot more, and by golly, she provides it! Most famously known as Ms. Ko, Byeong Hee is a reporter for a controversial magazine, Cest Si Bon, a racy equivalent to Playboy magazines in the US. With detailed stories about sex, youd think that Byeong Hee is quite experienced in love-making and relationships, but shes really the opposite. Spending several years yearning for the divorce of her most beloved sunbae (upperclassman), she has finally gotten her wish to confess her love and desire but is turned down for the most devastating reason. To add on to her despair, Byeong Hee is informed that she is medically troubled with a tumor. Have no fears though, Byeong Hees not about to die, and her love life is just beginning with the return of her best friends little brother, Cheol Su, and the embarrassing meeting with a doctor, Bae Hee Myeong. With as series of age gap relationships and Byeong Hees tumor worry, Whats Up Fox? is a laugh-after-laugh comedy that makes this a must see series.
Absolutely refreshing! It sure has been a while since Ive encountered such an attention-grabbing series since My Lovely Kim Sam Soon. Now that I think about it, the two dramas have some similar aspects such as age gaps and similar looking actresses playing the leads, but the stories are quite different. Whats Up Fox? is a witty, sexual series with a story that highlights societys views on relationships of people with large age gaps. It sounds rather serious, sure, but there are definitely a bunch of parts in the series that are incredibly rolling-on-the-floor-laughing hilarious. Actually, Id say the majority of the story was hilarious.
Ko Hyun Jung plays the middle-aged Ko Byeong Hee and does an excellent job portraying a virgin waiting for her soul mate while worried about removing a tumor inside her womb. Her personality is a bit childish at times, but theres also a lot of maturity that balances everything out. Byeong Hee and Park Cheol Su (Chun Jung Myung), the younger brother of Byeong Hees best friend, together create an incredible comedic duo that pretty much makes up the entire series. Their relationship transitions from big sister, little brother to something no one would have expected. Park Seung Hye (Ahn Sun Young) is Byeong Hees best friend and the older sister to Cheol Su, who is divorced and protective of her brother. This ex-gang members reaction to an age-gap relationship helps show how such couples are seen in society. Bae Hee Myeong (Cho Chong Wook) is the doctor Byeong Hee meets for the magazine company. Hes charming and experienced, but whether Byeong Hee is able to accept his feelings is
well like the rest of the characters in the series, youll just have to find out.
The series is 16 episodes long and I felt that there were a lot of unanswered questions at the end, but nevertheless, I did feel satisfied after watching it all. At least, I can tell you I was happy.
Like all romantic comedies, Whats Up Fox? was pretty romantic and funny. Its just that simple. Each episode made me laugh uncontrollably at times, and the romance was really genuine between the two leads to the point where I got a warm feeling inside watching these characters fall in love.
The music kind of reminded me of the music youd hear in the supermarket. Im not saying that it was bad because there wasnt much music throughout, but it wasnt great. I dont think Id get the soundtrack except for maybe the last song played at the end of the series. But even that didnt move me.
Id totally recommend anyone looking for laughs to watch this series. I had a lot of fun watching it all the way through. This is one of those series that doesnt really get boring as the series continues. Its pretty consistent with its humor. I wouldnt recommend this for the kids though. I wouldnt want them to lose their precious innocence. Leave this one for the adults, kids. Enjoy
