INTRO DR. STONE
As you read through this review, just imagine yourself having your daily routine. You wake up, have breakfast, brush your teeth, bathe, and enjoy the rest of your day. Suddenly, you and everyone (like in humans and some birds) turn into rocks for the next 3,000 years! During that period, the world naturally returns to its primitive state and modern society no longer exists. When some members of mankind managed to free themselves from their petrified prison after more than 4 millennia, they had to start from scratch. As for the teen science enthusiast Senkuu Ishigami, she did her best that she could with what her natural mother had to restore scientific advances over the centuries in a year! However, Tsukasa Shishio, a former MMA fighter-teen who is on the rise, defies Senkuu's plan to revive everyone because he just wants to recreate a world for young people. As a result, Senkuu and Tsukasa created the "country" respectively and prepared for war.
WHY WATCH DR. STONE
1. This Anime is very educational
For those who want the anime version "Bill Nye: The Science Guy, " (while also mixing a little "MacGyver ") Dr. Stone fits that bill perfectly! It teaches audiences how they can use the most primitive materials to make modern conveniences. As we said in our title, this anime is about humanity who has to rediscover the wheel 100 times! In a year, Senkuu managed to create a community that could use electricity and communication! Stone describes how to make light bulbs, waterwheels that produce electricity, and antibiotics that treat pneumonia! When it comes to the more elaborate parts of a particular device or chemical, the series features a fun flowchart (accompanied by Mecha Senkuu's explanation) on how it works. Of course, there are some experiments depicted in this series that you should not try at home!
2. Each character has a role
When Dr. Stone's story expanded, so did his cast. What makes this anime interesting is that each character has a role to play. You see the positive influence that Senkuu has on most of the people she meets. Other key characters like Kohaku, Chrome, and Kaseki all have something to donate. The series gives each of these characters enough time to evolve and for the audience to connect with them. One important moment that shows this is when Kaseki solidify his friendship with Chrome and Senkuu as "Bros science. "
3. Antagonists have a legitimate motivation
While Tsukasa can be extreme with his method (that is, deciding the head of the person who is still petrifying), he has a legitimate reason to just want to revive the youth. Through his back story, he shares how he is treated poorly and abused by an adult. On the one hand, the audience can interpret his motivation as a critique of elderly domination in Japanese society, and how it negatively affects modern Japanese youth.
WHAT'S LESS THAN DR. STONE
1. The less used antagonists
While we already know that Tsukasa will have a bigger role in Season 2, in the first series, the presence of Tsukasa only in the first few episodes and the last. Tsukasa is not only strong, she pointed out that she was as clever as in terms of science! This is shown when he realizes that a particular element found near a hot spring can be used as a gunpowder, and he immediately comes to that conclusion! The fact that he is physically strong and scientifically conscious makes him the main antagonist, and it's a shame that he is underutilized throughout the series, but there is a 2 season awaited.
2. All about building the world
For those of you who don't like anime that relies on world development, then this season of Dr. Stone may not be for you. The majority of the anime is about world development, but the situation depicted in this story is very helpful. Even so, we understand there are viewers out there who don't like storytelling. We understand that this slows everything down, so if you want something a little faster, maybe this genre could be your dislike.
