Why Most Gamers Play with Wired Mouse? |
|
From keyboard to mouse, everything is wireless today and they're deemed to be better than wired accessories. But, gamers still prefer playing with a wired mouse instead of a wireless mouse.
Have you wondered why?
Before I tell you why, let us first understand how wired and wireless mice work and what is the difference.
A wired mouse generally works on a USB 3.0 connection. You have to plug the wired mouse into the USB port of your computer. On the other hand, a wireless mouse connects with the computer using a 2.4GHz wireless connection or a Bluetooth connection.
A wireless mouse clearly provides more free movement, more range and of course a tangle-free experience. But all this comes at the cost of performance.
And, this is the reason gamers prefer wired mouse and keyboard. A gamer would never want to compromise with their performance due to a mouse.
Below are the main things that affect the performance of a wireless gaming mouse.
1. More Input Lag Having 'lag' in games is the last thing any gamer would want. And, when they use a wireless mouse, it is definite to have more input lag than a wired mouse.
In layman language, it takes a wireless mouse a few extra milliseconds to send the information to the computer and register the click or move in the game.
A standard wireless gaming mouse has an input lag of 8-15ms which is almost twice as compared to a standard wired gaming mouse (<10ms)
For a gamer, every single millisecond plays a deciding role in the game. In fact, this lag can become the reason for losing a battle that you could have won with a wired mouse.
2. Slower Clicking
More and more games are giving PvP mode to the players. And, when it is player vs player, you need to click as fast as you can to outmaneuver your opponent and win.
But, according to benchmarking data, a wireless mouse clicks a little slower as compared to a wired mouse.
So, if you click with the same speed physically on a wired and wireless mouse, the wired mouse will register more clicks than the wireless mouse in a given time frame.
This can be tested using the online tool called click test which measures the clicks per second of a mouse. You check the speed for wired and wireless mice and see the difference yourself.
3. Quite Expensive
Most gamers are broke as they have already invested a lot in their perfect gaming build. And, a wireless gaming mouse costs more than a wired gaming mouse.
A good wired mouse with extra buttons for FPS games comes at around 20-30$. But, a wireless mouse with the same specifications will cost you more than 50$.
Clearly, they do not want to spend extra on an accessory that would adversely affect their gaming performance.
Well, these three reasons are enough to prove the point that why gamers choose a wired mouse and not a wireless one. Do you want to check your mouse performance as well? Check out CPS Test for different mouse tests.
I hope this post has helped you to understand the difference between wired and wireless mouse from the performance perspective.
