Health Issues That Cause Daytime Sleepiness

Different health conditions can cause different types of health issues. Among them, the most significant and vital health issue can be excessive sleepiness. Excessive sleepiness can decrease work output in corporate and other work environments.

What causes excessive sleepiness in people?

Excessive sleepiness can be caused by any condition that prevents you from getting enough sleep at night. You may only be experiencing daytime sleepiness, but you may also be experiencing other symptoms, like snoring and uncontrolled leg movements while you are asleep.

Narcolepsy

Narcolepsy can be a misunderstood sleeping disorder. It's a neurological disorder similar to RLS. In the daytime, narcoleptic people usually experience excessive sleepiness. Narcolepsy sufferers may fall asleep during conversations or even at meals.

Depression

Depression can cause you to sleep differently than usual. You will likely experience excessive sleepiness during the days if you don't get enough sleep at night. Other people may notice changes in their sleeping habits after symptoms have been identified. There are many possible causes of depression, including abnormal levels of certain brain chemicals and issues with brain regions that regulate mood.
