"Say" or "Tell"?

Instructions:

We use reported speech to talk about things that people say.  Two verbs that are used to report speech are “say” and “tell”.  This exercise will help you to know when to use each verb.
Please fill in the blanks with the correct form of “tell” or “say”.


Tips:

Use “say” before a noun clause.
Example: Rafael said that he was going to bed.

Use “tell” before an object pronoun.  (The noun clause follows the object.)
Example: Rafael told me that he was going to bed.
