จางกึนซอก เกิดเมื่อวันที่ 4 สิงหาคม ปีค.ศ. 1987 จางกึนซอก เป็นเด็กหนุ่มที่มีทั้งความสามารถและพรสวรรค์ส่วนตัว
เขาเป็นนักแสดงที่ผ่านงานบันเทิงมาแล้วเกือบทุกด้าน ไม่ว่าจะเป็นดีเจรายการวิทยุ งานพิธีกร
งานเดินแบบถ่ายแบบ งานพากษ์เสียงการ์ตูน และงานแสดง เขาก็ล้วนทำได้ดีในทุกๆงานที่ได้รับ
ความแรงของจางกึนซอกในเวลานี้ ทำให้ผู้ผลิตสินค้าชื่อดังจำนวนมาก ไม่ว่าจะเป็น
MCM, Etude, LeSportsac, Motorola จ้างเขามาเป็นพรีเซ็นเตอร์ให้กับสินค้าชั้นนำเหล่านี้
นอกจากนั้นเวลาว่างของจางกึนซอก เขาก็ชอบที่จะหันไปเล่นกีฬาพวกสโนว์บอร์ดและสกี
รวมไปถึงเขายังสามารถเล่นกีฬา ร้องเพลง และเต้น ได้แบบที่นักร้องมืออาชีพได้เห็นคงหนาวกันเลยทีเดียว

จางกึนซอก เริ่มต้นงานแสดง ในปี 1998 หลังจากนั้นจนมาถึงปี 2005 เขาก็เก็บเกี่ยวประสบการณ์ทำงาน
จากการแสดงในบทสมทบในละครเรื่องต่างๆ ช่วงเวลา 8 ปีที่ผ่านมา ทำให้ดาราหนุ่มที่ชื่อจางกึนซอก
พัฒนาฝีมือไปมากขึ้น ปี 2006 จางกึนซอก พร้อมที่จะฉายแววความเป็นสตาร์ที่มีอยู่ในตัวของเขามาตลอดเวลา
เขารับบทนำครั้งแรกในละครเรื่อง Alien Teacher ร่วมกับนักแสดงเด็กรุ่นใหม่หลายคน
นอกจากนั้น จางกึนซอก มีโอกาสได้ร่วมงานภาพยนตร์สยองขวัญ ภาคต่อสุดฮิตของญี่ปุ่นอย่างเรื่อง One Missed Call Final
แต่ที่ทำให้เขาดังเป็นพลุแตก เห็นจะเป็นการแสดงในบทของอึนโฮ จากละครฟอร์มยักษ์เรื่อง Hwang Jin Yi
จนทำให้เขาได้รับรางวัลจากงานประกาศรางวัลของทางช่อง KBS มาครองได้สำเร็จ
นอกจากนั้นเขาก็มีบทสมทบในละครซิทคอมเรื่อง Heroine 6 และ Rainbow Romance ที่ฮอตฮิตไม่แพ้กัน

ปี 2007 จางกึนซอก มีผลงานภาพยนตร์ด้วยกัน 3 เรื่อง เรื่องแรก Happy Life
ภาพยนตร์แนวคอมเมดี้เกี่ยวกับวงร็อคสุดเพี้ยน เรื่องที่ 2 Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do
ภาพยนตร์ที่ดัดแปลงจากนิยายขายดีของควียอนนี เป็นเรื่องราวเกี่ยวกับความรักของเด็กวัยรุ่นและเสียงดนตรี
ภาพยนตร์เรื่องที่ 3 คือ Going Crazy Waiting ภาพยนตร์ที่เล่นเกี่ยวกับคู่รักคู่หนึ่ง
ที่ชายหนุ่มต้องไปเป็นทหาร และปล่อยให้แฟนสาวต้องรอคอยเขาถึง 730 วัน เมื่อทั้งคู่กลับมาเจอกันอีกครั้ง
ความรักจะยังคงอยู่เหมือนเดิมหรือไม่?

ล่าสุด ปี 2008 จางกึนซอกมีโปรเจ็ตละครที่กำลังถ่ายทำอยู่ 2 เรื่องด้วยกัน เรื่องแรก Hong Gil Dong
และ Timeless โปรเจ็คที่ยังไม่ได้รับการยืนยัน ที่รวมเหล่าดาราวยัรุ่นชั้นนำไว้มากมาย
ไม่ว่าจะเป็น จางกึนซอก คิมคีบอม มุนกึนยอง และโคอารา ทั้งสองเรื่องมีกำหนดฉายต้นปี 2008นี้
