History of mans Utilization of teak
Teak is one of a very few known woods the recorded history of which go back to the time immemorial. It has been known and used by man for thousands of years. It was used by Egyptians, Indians, and other peoples of Asia.
Edward Balfour wrote about it in 1885: Teak was used as a rib lining in the arches of Karli and said to be coeval with their formation 2,000 years ago. Pliny said that the beam of the temple of Apollo at Utica were in perfect preservation at this time, though they had then endured 1178 years.
