It is found thatThailand spent 104year to plant 4.3-million-rai (1ha=6.25rai )teak plantations with 300 million teaks and 25 million cubic meters capacity.With forest plantation areas at present, it can be estimated that the teak areexactly insufficient for consumption at present and in the future. Since1.7-million-rai teak plantations of Royal Department with ages more than 35years most are determined to beconservation areas which cannot be utilized. For 1.05-million-rai small teakplantations with ages under 20 years, they can be usable. They are teakplantations of FIO in the number of 0.66 million- rai that can produce the wood. It isestimated that the wood production from planted teak extension and the economicplantation wood reaching the round of cutting aged 35 years are 20,000 cubicmeters per annum, while demand for domestic teak consumption of Thailand isover 8-time of current domestic production.
