Cymbidium Ensi Canal
Cymbidium Ensi Canal is a primary hybrid between C. ensifolium from Asia and C. canaliculatum from Australia. It is registered in Stewart Orchid Inc. in 1969. However, I have made a remake from using my best heat tolerant strain of C. ensifolium from Panom Dongrak Range (a low range on the border between Thailand and Cambodia) and C. canaliculatum 'Sparksii'.
The hybrids are quite compact in size with variable degree of fragrance. The foliage is rather upright, but not as rigid as that of C. canaliculatum. They do not seem to have a distinct blooming season but rather sporadically year round in Bangkok. However, their blooming habit will become more seasonal once they are grown in the more seasonal-pronounced climates. One big advantage is that the hybrids are much easier to grow than C. canaliculatum!
There are some variations among the progeny as the pics shown.
