To Catch A Falling Leaf

The season has changed from summer to fall
Leaves drift slowly off the trees so tall
They are gold - brown - and red - and green
What a display of colors to be seen
My hands reach out as my eyes are focused on one red leaf
Its descent directly at my waiting palms; then to my disbelief
Swoops back up, winding, swirling, twirling, and spiraling - to the ground
Quietly, playfully, teasingly without a single sound
After a while, I must stop to rest
And look at the tree almost bare, undressed
And wonder in silence,
will it shiver in the winter wind?
