Marathon feat of a fast-food fan
Aaron Howlett still saw himself as a thin man
Two years ago, Aaron Howlett was so lazy he had chips delivered from the shop next door.
On one occasion, despite having already eaten three main courses from a Chinese take-away, he was still hungry. So he bought another meal from a stranger in the street.
It was being unable to play with his niece Ellie without breaking into a sweat, feeling breathless and suffering chest pains which marked a turning point for Aaron.
And it led him to improve his health so much he was able to run the London marathon.
He says: "The day with Ellie was a turning point. I was so upset I could not play with her and she was upset, which upset me even more."
Aaron went to his GP, who shocked him by saying he was a "heart attack waiting to happen" and would be "lucky to be alive in five years".
At his heaviest the 31-year-old from Hull, who is 6'5" tall, weighed 27-and-a-half stone (174.6kg), but hadn't realised he needed to take action.
Over the years the weight had crept on, and from being an overweight teenager he became a morbidly obese adult, without even noticing.
