Oricon: wonderful voices Thu, November 22, 2007 (5:44am EST) In a recent survey, research firm Oricon asked 2,000 people, "Which celebrity has a wonderful voice?"
Among male celebrities, popular actor and singer Masaharu Fukuyama ranked first. Akira Kawashima of comedy duo Kirin came in second, followed by Shosuke Tanihara, Hiroshi Tamaki, and Hiroshi Abe. Akira Nakao and Leo Morimoto tied for 6th, ahead of Takuya Kimura, Gackt, and Koichi Yamadera.
On the women's side, actress/singer/seiyu Keiko Toda topped the list. She was chosen partly for her range of voices in anime, which includes Matilda from "Mobile Suit Gundam" and Anpanman. Nanako Matsushima, Yukie Nakama, Sayuri Yoshinaga, and Masami Nagasawa filled the rest of the top five. Hitomi Kuroki tied with Miwa Yoshida for #6. Oricon: best suited for... suits Sat, November 3, 2007 (3:27pm EDT) A survey conducted by Oricon asked which male celebrities look best in a suit. In typical fashion, Takuya Kimura ranked first, but he was unexpectedly favored more by men than by women. The female favorite, actor Koichi Sato, took second. Nikkan Sports has revealed the winners of its 20th anniversary Nikkan Sports Film Awards. Masayuki Suo's "Soredemo Boku wa Yattenai" won for both Best Picture and Best Director, giving the film its second double-win of this awards season. (It won for Best Picture and Best Actor in Sports Hochi's awards.)
Takuya Kimura's performance in "Bushi no Ichibun" ("Love and Honor") earned him the nod for Best Actor. Takashi Sasano won Best Supporting Actor for the same film.
Yuko Takeuchi picked up Best Actress for "Sidecar ni Inu," while Best Supporting Actress went to Kirin Kiki ("Tokyo Tower"). Yui Aragaki took home Best Newcomer with "Waruboro" and "Koizora."
"Letters from Iwo Jima" was named Best Foreign Film. "Bushi no Ichibun" won a third prize in the form of the Yujiro Ishihara Award. The Yujiro Ishihara Newcomer Award was not given this year.
