April 5 ~ our flight landed safe & sound at Bangkok International Airport. Dean rushed out to smoke (of course) leaving his wife & kid behind. Ha-ha. Well, we had to wait for the stroller.
For those who bring animals into Thailand, after deplane, proceed at Immigration and baggage claim. Then, go to Animal Control with proper paperwork. The officer will issue the document stating that your animal(s) is/are free of disease. The fee for this procedure is 100 Thai Baht (approx. US$2.5)
We spent our first day in Bangkok getting massage. You can find very cheap & good massage parlors all over Bangkok. The trick is to ask the local where to go. For 1 hour foot massage should only cost no more than US$5.
Some people may find that the traditional Thai massage hurts as hell. Well, it does! If you like kind of relaxing but still feel like you are getting a deep tissue massage, ask for Oil Massage. Dont do aroma massage because you will just get RUB! Anyway, enough for the massage hints.
On our second day, my father picked us up early. Then we had to pick up Joe (my husbands friend) at the hotel in the downtown area.
We headed east toward Trad Province ~ 350 Kilometers east of Bangkok. Our destination was Koh Chang. Koh Chang is a Thai word which literally means Elephant Island. It is the second biggest island in the country located in the Gulf of Thailand. Phuket is the biggest island.
Once you reach Trad Province, you will need to take a ferry ride to the island. The cost is 60 baht/person. The ferry organizer claims that this is THE CHEAPEST ferry ride in the world! The ride takes about 25 minutes of breath taking scenery. There are food & beer for sales on board at reasonable price.
We stayed in Kai Bae Beach which was quite nice. The resort offers different types of cottages. All of them equip with either beach front or pool side patios.
