Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.

ลูกของเธอ ไม่ใช่ ลูกของเธอ
"ลูก" เป็น "เด็กตัวเล็ก" ของชีวิตอันยาวไกลของตัวเขาเอง

They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you
yet they belong not to you.

ลูกไม่ได้มาจากเธอ ลูกแค่ผ่านตัวเธอ
ถึงแม้ว่าตอนนี้ลูกจะอยู่กับเธอ
แต่ ลูกไม่ใช่ ของ ของเธอ

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.

เธออาจจะสามารถให้ความรักแก่ลูกได้ แต่ให้ การนึกคิด ไม่ได้
เพราะ .. ลูกมีความรู้สึกนึกคิดเป็นของตัวเอง

You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

เธอให้บ้านแก่ร่างกายลูกได้ แต่ไม่ใช่บ้านแห่งจิตวิญญาน
เพราะ .. จิตวิญญานของลูก อยู่ที่บ้านแห่งอนาคต
บ้านซึ่งเธอจะไม่สามารถไปเยือนได้ ไม่แม้กระทั่งความฝัน

You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

เธออาจจะพยายามอยากจะเป็นได้เหมือนอย่างลูก
แต่จะทำให้ลูกเป็นเหมือนเธอไม่ได้
เพราะชีวิตไม่ได้เดินถอยหลัง หรือ ค้างอยู่แค่เมื่อวาน

You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.

เธอเป็นคันธนูของลูกศรที่จะส่งออกไปข้างหน้า

The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.

นักยิงธนูมองเห็นจุดหมาย จากเส้นทางอันไม่สิ้นสุด
เขาโก่งคันธนู สุด เท่าที่ทำได้
เพื่อให้ลูกศรพุ่งออกไป และ ไกลออกไป

ให้การโก่งของคันธนูในมือเขา เต็มไปด้วยความสุขใจ
เขานั้น รัก ทั้งลูกศรที่บินออกไป และ รักคันธนูที่ยังคงอยู่
