Dubai - ดูไบ ไปดูมา โอ๊ะ เวลาผ่านไปเดือนนึงแล้วหรือนี่ เห็นจะได้เวลาอัพเดตบล็อกซะที คุณสามีก็เร่งอยู่ว่าอยากจะดูรูปทริปดูไบเต็มแก่แล้ว เตือนก่อนนะคะ บล็อกวันนี้จะแปะรูปกันให้ตายไปข้าง ทนได้ทนไป ฮี่ We went to Dubai for about 10 days, and boy, it was so much fun (and so damn hot too)!! Chris chose the Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa for us (you know why.) Neill was very much impressed with all the dolphins in the hotel lobby while I was just as thankful for the air condition. The hotel was beautiful. The room was big and nicely decorated. Outside there were trees and flowers and flowing streams everywhere. (And even some peacocks roaming around freely.) The beach and garden are very well maintained. In other word, it's perfect, if you don't count the temperature. Just 8.30 in the morning and the degree would reach 40c , the naked sun glaring down at you non-stop. The only logical place we could possibly be is in the swimming pool. Throughout the length of stay, we spent 5 hours a day on average in the water, every morning and afternoon. Neill couldn't be any happier. That was one regular guest who always came to join us in the pool. At first, the duck was wary of us (and other guests) and didn't want to come closer, but he (I assume it's a he) grew accustomed to us very quickly. Chris started to nod and make quack-quack sound rhythmically with him and apparently the duck liked it. He eventually came close enough for us to actually touch him, and even climbed up Chris's arm and shoulder, picking his hair. Some of the hotel guests called Chris "Dr. Dolittle" for his "magical" ability to speak duck language. Unfortunately, not everyone likes to share the swimming pool with a duck. There were also people (especially family with young kids) who insisted that the duck must be removed from the pool immediately. I didn't agree with them. It's just a duck, and he's been here long before us and always will be long after we're gone. Live and let live, man! Sorry, let's move on. The hotel has a very nice 9-hole golf course (hence the name.) Chris played here once and we all went with him. Before he started the round, we went into the pro shop and Neill found himself a junior golf club that is so light and of perfect length. Chris bought it for him as a birthday gift and Neill was predictably thrilled. Some days when Papa went to town to play golf and we couldn't go with him, we went to the "Peaco Club" -- the hotel's play area for children. The staff were very nice, and the place very well equipped, though it was always quiet there. They even gave him a chocolate bar there from time to time! Whenever we weren't in the pool or playing golf, we saved some buns from room service or breakfast buffet table and went out to feed the fish, and the tortoises. There were like thousands of fish in the stream and they just couldn't get enough of the bread. Neill especially liked feeding the tortoises, but mostly they were too slow and the fish took their chunks. The birds were also waiting for a chance to snatch pieces of bread mid-air, and they were very good at it. One day we went to the city for lunch at the famous Burj Al Arab Hotel. So far it's the most luxurious hotel in Dubai, and worldwide, since it's the only one to earn 7 stars. The restaurant was on the 25th floor (if I remember correctly) and the food was absolutely delicious. Fabulous. Impressive. Unforgettable. And unsurprisingly expensive as well. That one lunch cost us almost 15,000 Thai Baht. I'm glad my mom weren't there with us, or she would surely kill me. The hotel and the restaurant look like this. I took the picture from the hotel website, because the restaurant had requested that the customers should "refrain from taking pictures" so as to protect other people's privacy. Finally when I couldn't refrain myself any longer, I took this photograph, and also another one from the descending elevator. Can you see the construction site outside the window? That's the Palm Island, one of Dubai's mega waterfront projects in developing. They are dumping huge amount of sand into the sea just as you're reading this paragraph to reclaim the land for projects like this. Now let's take a look inside the hotel. Neill could stand and watch this fountain for hours on end. The water was actually "dancing" and changing pattern all the time. Too bad I didn't really know how to make a video with my digital camera, or if I did, I wouldn't know how to post it on the internet anyway. the two most important men in my life Well, we have come to an end of this long story. Congratulations! In short, it has been a joyful and well spent 10 days of our lives. It's so nice just to be together as a family again, even for a short period of time. Also a correction on one of your explanations, it was the 27 TH floor in the grand hotel, and the lifys are on the outside with a nice view when you go up. We also swam in the sea, which was very warm, to a pont, where we could see nice colorful fishswimming below us. The some Pommies came and spoiled it for Pom. She can tell you why.The holiday was excellent, great to be together, but now life is empty in Liberia again.
