Neither the Priminister nor his representatives are to attend the meeting. ทั้งนายกรัฐมนตรีและผู้แทน ( ของนายก ฯ )ไม่ต้องเข้าร่วมการประชุม

Either the teachers or the principal is to blame for the accident. ไม่พวกครูก็ครูใหญ่ต้องรับผิดชอบในอุบัติเหตุที่เกิดขึ้น

Not only Jim but also his friends are coming to the party tonight. ไม่เพียงแต่จิมเท่านั้นที่มาร่วมงานเลี้ยง เพื่อนๆของเขาก็มาด้วย

*** หมายเหตุ ในกรณีประธาน 2 ตัว นิยมเอาประธานที่เป็นพหูพจน์ไว้ข้างหลังมากกว่า

9, คำ Indefinite Pronouns ต่อไปนี้ถ้าใช้แทนคำนามนับได้ all, both, (a) few, many, several, some ถือเป็นพหูพจน์เสมอ เช่น

All were ready to leave the party by midnight. ทั้งหมดพร้อมที่จะออกจากงานเลี้ยงตอนเที่ยงคืน

Few were in the audience to see the horrible play. มีคนดูละครห่วยๆนี้อยู่ไม่กี่คน

Many were invited to the lunch but only twelve showed up. มีคนไดัรับเชิญรับประทานอาหารกลางวันหลายคน แต่มีคนมาเพียง 12 คน

10.การใช้วลีบอกปริมาณ

**1. วลีบอกปริมาณต่อไปนี้ a lot of, plenty of, most of, some of, lots of,all of, none of, ....... percent of ถ้าตามด้วยนามเอกพจน์ต้องใช้ กริยาต้องใช้เอกพจน์ ถ้าตามด้วยนามพหูพจน์กริยาต้องใช้พหูพจน์ เช่น

I think a lot of English wine is too sweet. ฉันคิดว่าไวน์ของอังกฤษจำนวนมากที่หวานเกินไป (wine เป็น นามนับไม่ได้มีความหมายเป็นเอกพจน์)

A lot of people are in the room. มีคนจำนวนมากในห้อง
( people มีรูปเอกพจน์คือไม่มี s แต่มีความหมายพหูพจน์จึงใช้ are) (ดูในเรื่อง Nouns)

There are still a large number of problems to be solved. ยังมีปัญหาต้องแก้ไขอีกมาก

11.วลีบอกปริมาณต่อไปนี้ much, a great deal of, a good deal of, a large number of, a large amount of, a large quality of เมื่อใช้กับนามนับไม่ได้ กริยาต้องใช้รูปเอกพจน์ตลอดไป เช่น

Although a great deal of progress has been made in the development of spoken communication with computers, there are still a large number of problems to be solved.
