Recently I have been rumbling around in Ratchadumnern, fighting with the evil duo Dusit-Samak for their prejudiced and distorted negative comments against the academics, public intellectuals and NGOs. They have been granted the privilege to have their public TV program simply because their nationalism/right wing theme resonates perfectly with what Thai government wants citizens to embrace.
These ultra-right-wing guys come up with an attitude, a dinosaur-like attitude of 1976, the same one they used for instigating the heavily-armed mobs to brutally kill unarmed students in Thammasat University (my alma mater). The past is something but it is not the main point of my disapproval. What really disgusts me is a series of despicable articles written by Dusit Siriwan in Siamrath newspaper and often quoted regularly in Ratdumnern. They are pieces of worthless articles filled with ongoing bashing of Democrats Party (former government), NGOs, academics and the civic groups.
What really amazes me is that this view has gradually received more popularity among Thai people young or old, although the usual clientele of Dusit and Samak are the senior right-wing nationalists or people of lower socioeconomic status or less education, their apparent defining status as the anti-corruption of the past government has captured the favorable view from another demographic group like some middle class, political enthusiasts , Thai Rak Thai and Thaksin supporters.
By upholding this kind of TV program, supporting the persons of no integrity (they both heavily involved in the 1976 students massacre), Thai government has poisoned its citizen with this former-evils-who-metamorphose-to-saints. It is totally unacceptable for me to see this momentum change in Thai society. It is such a degenerating change indeed!
Its even EASIER, when big money is leading the way
Its just.. so sad.
