Transitions...มาเลือกใช้คำเชื่อมเก๋ๆ กันดีกว่า

ในการเขียนเชื่อมต่อประโยค หรือแม้กระทั่งเชื่อม paragraph ล้วนแล้วแต่


จำเป็นที่จะต้องมีคำเชื่อมต่อที่เรียกว่า Transitions/Transitional


words/Transitional devices/Transition Signals แล้วแต่จะเรียกกันนะคะ



เจ้า Transitions ที่ว่านี้ ก็คือ คำหรือกลุ่มคำ (วลี) ที่ทำหน้าที่เป็นเหมือน


สะพานเชื่อมต่อระหว่างส่วนต่างๆ ของงานเขียนของเราให้มีความต่อเนื่อง


สมบูรณ์ อ่านแล้วไม่ติดขัด  แถมยังเป็นคำที่ช่วยส่งสัญญาณให้ผู้อ่านรู้ตัวอีก


ด้วยว่า เรากำลังพูดถึงเรื่องอะไร แล้วต่อไปจะเป็นยังไง  อย่างน้อยๆ ก็เป็น


ตัวบ่งบอกให้ผู้อ่านรู้ว่า เรามีการวางโครงเนื้อเรื้องอย่างไร ทำให้ผู้อ่าน


สามารถติดตามลำดับเรื่องและความคิดได้อย่างง่ายตั้งแต่ต้นจนจบค่ะ



คำเชื่อมที่ใช้กันทั่วไป มีหลายประเภทนะคะ แล้วในแต่ละประเภทนั้นก็มี


กลุ่มคำให้เลือกใช้มายมายก่ายกองเสียเหลือเกิน  ก็เลยขอสรุปเป็นกลุ่มดังนี้ค่ะ







 

Smiley Words that ADD information: Smiley 




First, second, third,…. First of all, also, and, another, besides, further, furthermore, in addition, moreover, additionally, as well as, again, equally important, one could also say, nor, and then, not to mention, another, too, as well, what’s more




Examples:



• The little girl put on her yellow shirt and brown overalls.

• Chris is on the basketball team this semester at Indiana School for the Deaf. In addition, he is on the soccer team.

• We will be here for one more week so we can finish up our work. Another reason we are staying longer is because we do not want to miss the Deaf Way conference.

• First of all, pour a half-cup of milk in the bowl; second, add two eggs; and third, stir the mixture.

• I admire I. King Jordan because he is the first deaf president of Gallaudet. Besides that, I admire him because he is a great long distance runner. Furthermore, he is a dedicated family man. All in all, there ís not much to dislike about the man, except he is too perfect!

• Crystal likes camping in the mountains. Also, Crystal is an experienced hiker.

• Texas School for the Deaf is perfectly located. Moreover, it has a strong academic program. For example, the school has a preschool program where both deaf and hearing children learn together.

Finally, in conclusion, to conclude, to sum up, in brief, on the whole, summing up, as I have shown, as I have said, hence, thus, therefore, accordingly, as a result, consequently




Examples:



• There were a lot of problems discussed at the meeting. Finally, after a few hours, we were able to prioritize the problems in the order we want to solve the problems.

• Ronda bought a new Saturn car; so in like manner the rest of her friends did the same thing.

• By comparison, Greensboro, N.C. is much smaller than Washington, D.C. is.
