postpone (= put off) + v-ing ผิด: We've had to postpone to go to France because the children are ill. ถูก: We've had to postpone going to France because the children are ill. * put off เป็น phrasal verb แปลว่า postpone ก็ตามด้วย v-ing เหมือนกันค่ะ I can't put off going to the dentist any longer.
look forward to + v-ing ผิด: I always look forward to see my parents. ถูก: I always look forward to seeing my parents.
give up (=stop) + v-ing ผิด: I've given up to try to make her happy. ถูก: I've given up trying to make her happy. * ถ้าใช้ stop ก็ตามด้วย v-ing เช่นกันค่ะ I stopped seeing him last year.
Note* stop + v-ing กับ stop + to infinitive ให้ความหมายต่างกันค่ะ Stop doing something means 'not continue with an activity'. หยุดทำสิ่งๆนั้น Stop to do something means 'stop in order to do something’. หยุดเพื่อที่จะทำสิ่งใดสิ่งหนึ่ง
