dreaming of ideal liberal art world
I miss Petrarch. I miss his words and the kind of eloquent humanist writings suppose to have. If you havn't read 'the secret' yet, you should. It is one of the most fascinating book I have ever read (and in so many aspects too). I miss the dreamy kind of philosophical arguments that he used. The modern philosophers are not so fond of humanists writings. They said that they don't pay enough attention to the detailed logic of the argument. Humanists focus on reaching human's emotions too much. I guess they are saying it's not cut and dry facts and logical analysis. I am not sure I have thought enough about that comment. But sometimes I just want to carelessly say that I don't care about that. We are humans. We don't have to act like machines all the time. Look what the modern philosophy gets us. Are we that much different from the Renaissance? Maybe we are. But who can say if we are any closer to understanding philosophical questions. What if the way humanists did it was a better way for humans to get a deeper understanding of theses questions? Maybe sometimes we just need to dream to get closer to the truth.
I dream about the ideal society where people come together just in the spirits of learning, of finding the truth, of thinking. I want to be in that kind of liberal art school.
